Compound Document by Reference Framework 1.0

This document specifies the Compound Document by Reference Framework 1.0.

When combining separate markup languages, specific problems have to be resolved that are not addressed by their individual language specifications, such as the propagation of events across namespaces, the combination of rendering or the user interaction model.

Compound Document is the W3C term for a document that combines multiple formats.

This document specifies WICD Core 1.0, a device independent Compound Document profile based on XHTML, CSS and SVG.

WICD stands for Web Integration Compound Document and is based on the idea of integrating existing markup language formats in preference to inventing new markup.

WICD Full 1.0

Compound Document is the W3C term for a document that combines multiple formats. The CDF Working Group has defined CDRF 1.0 as a framework to describe such documents.

This document specifies WICD Full 1.0, a Compound Document profile based on XHTML, CSS, SVG and DOM, which conforms to CDRF 1.0 and WICD Core 1.0. WICD Full 1.0 is targeted at desktop agents and is a superset of WICD Mobile 1.0.
