Updated tests: Web fonts
The tests of font linking and eot fonts were updated, along with the associated results pages. The number of tests was reduced to a single test per script, but test cases were created for HTML4, XHTML 1.1 and XHTML served as both text/html and XML. In addition, links to font licence information were added to the test notes. The Urdu font was also updated.

Updated tests: HTML and CSS and text direction
Continuing the work of repackaging the tests in the Internationalization test suite around 87 more tests, this time relating to right-to-left and bidirectional text have been updated. Each of the 87 tests are implemented for HTML 4.0, XHTML 1.0 served as text/html, XHTML 1.0 served as XML, and XHTML 1.1 served as XML (ie. totally around 350 test cases).
There are also tables covering the results of the tests, and summaries of the findings. Most of these are new. The tests were run on recent versions of major browsers.

(Note that the vertical text tests are not included in this announcement, since they are still in the early stages of development.)
Updated tests: HTML and CSS character encodings and language declarations
As part of the ongoing work of repackaging the tests in the Internationalization test suite around 70 tests relating to character encodings and language declarations have been updated. Each of the 70 tests are implemented for HTML 4.0, XHTML 1.0 served as text/html, XHTML 1.0 served as XML, and XHTML 1.1 served as XML (ie. totally around 280 test cases).
There are also tables covering the results of each test, and summaries of the findings. The tests were run on recent versions of major browsers.

Updated tests and results: list-style-type set to armenian
These tests check whether and how a user agent displays list numbering when the value of the CSS list-style-type property is set to armenian, lower-armenian and upper-armenian.
A number of errors in the tests were corrected and the results page was rewritten to reflect the changes and results for latest versions of major browsers. [search keys: test-list-style-type results-list-style-type]
New tests: Web fonts
These tests explore how and if a user agent supports download of font information over the Web, particularly for complex script support. Fonts are downloaded both as directly as OpenType fonts, and using an EOT wrapper. Both methods tested use the CSS @font-face mechanism.[search key: test-webfonts]
Updated tests & results: Language declarations
These tests examine whether language information is available for text processing when declared in various different ways.
The format of the tests was improved, and the 6th test page was dropped (dealing with language attributes on block elements) since it replicates tests elsewhere.
The results were rewritten to reflect behaviour of the latest major browsers.
Update: An error was fixed in test page 3 and three new test pages were added, to examine the effect of multiple language values in the meta element and precedence of language attribute and meta element. The tests were re-run and the results page updated. [search key: test-lang-decl]
New tests & results: CSS encoding detection
These tests examine whether user agents follow the rules in CSS 2.1 about detecting the encoding of CSS style sheets. This is particularly important if you style sheet uses non-ASCII characters in such things as class names, content, or font names. [search key: test-encoding-detection]
Updated tests & results: Language-dependent styling
These tests examine whether a user agent is capable of styling elements in XHTML 1.0 served as text/html using CSS selectors that examine the language declared in element attributes.
All tests have been rewritten, resulting in some small corrections and changes to the previous set of tests, and improvements to the page styling. Additional tests were added to check behaviour with regard to the script tags in BCP 47. Also, a whole set of tests were developed for XHTML 1.1 (served as XML). The results page was rewritten to reflect the behavior of the latest versions of a number of major browsers (including IE8 beta, which now supports :lang). [search key: test-css-lang]
Updated test results: Ruby markup served as text/html
These tests check whether and how a user agent displays ruby markup in XHTML 1.0 that is served as text/html (without CSS help).
Tests were conducted on later versions of Firefox, Opera and Safari browsers, and the Firefox browser with a later version of the ruby add-on by Jeroen Ruigrok van der Werven. The latter now passes all tests for simple and complex ruby as expected. There was no change for the three former browser setups. [search key: results-ruby-markup-2]
New test results: Ruby markup served as text/html
A set of initial results has been published for the tests that check whether and how a user agent displays ruby markup in XHTML 1.0 that is served as text/html. [search keys: results-ruby-markup]
