We will hold a plenary discussion on parallel content in EPUB, building on the explainer "Parallel Content" and the GitHub discussion "Ways to publish and consume parallel content”.
The goal is to collect concrete use cases and requirements from content creators and implementers, and to discuss whether and how this work should evolve into a dedicated EPUB WG task force.

Discuss and document uncommon and experimental digital publishing.

We will discuss what the W3C Web Publications format is suitable for and explore its distinction from EPUB and other formats — in other words, under what conditions it is the best option. We would love to hear testimonies from professionals who are using or considering the use of the Web Publications format. Please come and join us!

Breno Duarte, from the NEES/UFAL group, will present challenges and foreseen solutions in supporting interactive and accessible publications in the context of Brazil's National Textbook Program, both in terms of production and distribution.

Nick Brown, VP Product, will share insights from VitalSource's experience building Bookshelf CoachMe, an award-winning AI-powered feature that has been shown to triple student engagement with their textbooks and improve learning outcomes.

Nick will outline the learning science foundations that guide their AI development, their approach to balancing publisher rights and concerns with innovation, and lessons learned from years of research and implementation. Nick will also discuss their AI principles framework, which ensures their technology remains ethical, transparent, and centered on improving educational outcomes rather than simply deploying AI for its own sake. The session will conclude with open Q&A regarding the future landscape of AI in educational content and reading systems.

This meeting will introduce the proposed Interactive Media Community Group.

The Interactive Media Community Group is interested in all forms of interactive media, e.g., branching narratives, digital gamebooks, interactive films, and serious games. This group considers and discusses how standardization can support all forms of interactive media. This group may work on a number of deliverables, reports, and specifications.
