The IPTC is organizing a day entitled “Machine Readable Rights and the News Industry: Opportunities, Standards and Challenges”. It will be held on 12th March in Amsterdam. We want to get the major players interested in machine readable rights together, to explore the possibilities of working with the members of the IPTC to take advantage of the opportunities and overcome the challenges. We’re encouraging business, editorial, technical and legal people working on rights to consider attending – there is no charge for attending the event, but you need to register:

The IPTC has been working on machine readable rights for the news industry, basing RightsML (http://dev.iptc.org/RightsML) on the ODRL framework. I think it would be great if members of this group would be able to attend.
The Draft Specifications have undergone extensive technical development and significant community exposure over the past years.
A history of prior versions and requirements are available.
During this Last Call review period, the ODRL Community Group solicits and will respond to comments from its members, other W3C groups, and the general public.
The Last Call period will last 2 weeks and end at COB on Monday 16th April 2012.

Create a New Issue and ensure you select the correct specification from the Product list (depending on if you are a Contributor or Public member).
All items will be posted to the relevant email lists.
At the conclusion of the Last Call period and successful addressing of comments, the three Draft Specifications will mature to Final Specifications.
