[...] This talk will try to explain the challenges involved in, on the one hand, developing standards for an unknown future, and, on the other hand, making sure those standards are well-tested before they are published. Examples from HTML5, CSS3 and other technical standards under development will illustrate how a vision for the future is often realized via compromises and small, evolutionary steps.
