The Steering Committee of the Publishing Business Group at W3C is pleased to announce to the EPUB community that the DAISY Consortium has started working on EPUBcheck revision.
The whole EPUB eco-system needs EPUBcheck to validate files and be confident about the interoperability on all devices and accessibility by all final users.
But the existing version issued in 2016 lacks maintenance as known bugs have been discovered. And as EPUB3.2 is about to be published, we need to be in perfect order for sustaining the publishing industry business on digital.
The first phase of the project aims to bring a full functional EPUBcheck validating EPUB 3.2 files, with the two following milestones:
- November 2018: Maintenance release – EpubCheck 4.1
- March 2019: Stable EpubCheck updated for EPUB 3.2
This development effort requires funding and here is the way to support this initiative:
We will also need your help in contributing and testing! The github repo for EPUBcheck is now at W3C:
