W3C honoured in 2014 net Awards technology nominations

It is with pride and delight that I share that W3C is well-represented among the 2014 net Awards nominees. 2014 is the year the Web turns 25, and the W3C turns 20. Twenty years of advancing the Web as an open platform through open standards, empowering billions to create, communicate and collaborate. Thank you for advancing the Web with us. Thank you for honouring us with your nominations!

The net Awards celebrate the best in Web design and development; the best new talent, trends and technologies, and new projects that are shaping the next generation Web.

Game Changer of the Year

Test the Web Forward was nominated as Game Changer of the Year.

W3C's one stop shop for Open Web Platform testing, Test the Web Forward improves interoperability of the Open Web Platform through testing events, hackathons and meetups, documentation, reviews.

Best New Web Technology

W3C's scorecard: 60%! We also got several nominations in Best New Web Technology:

• Web Components, to create custom HTML elements,
• CSS Regions, a new layout tools,
• Do Not Track, to disable tracking or cross-site user tracking,
• WebRTC, enables web browsers with Real-Time Communications capabilities,
• CSS Shapes, to describe geometric shapes for use in CSS,
• Web Audio API, to help play and manipulate sound in a web page or an application.

It's really nice to see other projects and the people listed as net Awards nominees.

• The Extensible Web Manifesto, a Game Changer nominee, largely pushed forward by several W3C TAG members.
• My former colleague, Lea Verou, who left the W3C Team last July, nominated in Outstanding Contribution, and Conference Talk of the Year.
• Molly Holzschlag, long-time supporter of the W3C and Web standards, participant in the W3C CSS Working Group, Open Web Evangelist, Author, Educator, nominated in Outstanding Contribution.
• caniuse(beta), famous and handy compatibility tables for modern browsers, nominated Best Side Project.
• CERN's Line Mode Browser 2013, nominated Best Collaborative Project.
