The Synchronized Multimedia (SYMM) Working Group has released the First Public Working Draft of Synchronized Multimedia Integration Language (SMIL 3.0). This the third version of the Synchronized Multimedia Integration Language (SMIL, pronounced "smile"), an XML-based language that allows authors to write interactive multimedia presentations. This version will extend the functionality of SMIL 2.1, facilitate the reuse of SMIL syntax and semantics in other XML-based languages, and define new SMIL profiles.
