Speech Synthesis Markup Language Is a W3C Candidate Recommendation

W3C is pleased to announce the advancement of the Speech Synthesis Markup Language Version 1.0 to Candidate Recommendation. Comments are welcome through 18 February 2004. With this XML-based language, content authors can generate synthetic speech on the Web, controlling pronunciation, volume, pitch, and rate. Read about the Voice Browser Activity.
