Data governance and ownership workshop
- Upcoming
- Confirmed
https://github.com/w3c/strategy/issues/567
The World Wide Web has shifted from its original open, sharing-focused vision. There are growing concerns over protecting vulnerable populations, managing copyright and AI data usage, and navigating centralised social media platforms that obscure data sharing and provenance. This workshop aims to explore new forms of data governance, data ownership, and decentralised alternatives. Attendees are encouraged to submit proposals for discussion topics such as user-centric alternatives, usage preferences, data provenance, and the role of web standards in balancing openness and ownership.
Submission deadline: 30 September
Please submit your proposal as an issue on https://github.com/w3c/tpac2026-miniworkshops, using the corresponding issue template.
