W3C has been driving a set of discussions around the AR/VR/XR space since our first W3C Workshop on Web and Virtual Reality in 2016.  Since then the work has expanded both the depth and scope of what we're doing and is now under the Immersive Web Working Group.

The W3C Business Development team and Technical Staff monitor various events that are being proposed to see which ones would make sense for us to participate in either as attendees, Sponsors, or Presenters. One such event that surfaced late last year is the XR Intelligence series of events put on by Reuters Events. We were negotiating a Media Sponsorship which would have included a discount for W3C Members to attend XR Immersive Enterprise 2020. But things changed due to COVID-19: the event is now free, and online!

The impact of COVID-19 is being felt across every sector, not least in events where the ban on public gatherings has made it temporarily impossible to hold crucial industry meets in person.  However, the Reuters Events team has transitioned a lot of great content into a virtual, 3-day event and W3C is proud to be a Media Sponsor of that event.

I would encourage you to check out the event site and see the presentations from more than 40 industry-leading speakers. Registration is free which is better than any discount W3C would have been able to obtain!
