W3C Library Linked Data XG Final Report Published

W3C’s Library Linked Data Incubator group has published its final report. In its final report, the group characterized the current state of library data management, outlined the potential benefits of publishing library data as Linked Data, and formulated next-step recommendations for library standards bodies, data and systems designers, librarians and archivists, and library leaders..

This report is not the only output of the Incubator group. The group also published two more documents:

  • The "Use Cases" document describes library applications which showcase the benefits of adopting Semantic Web standards and Linked Data principles to publish library. assets such as bibliographic data, concept schemes, and authority files
  • The “Datasets, Value Vocabularies, and Metadata Element Sets” provides a snapshot of key resources available for creating library Linked Data today.
