RIF WG approaches a CORE
The RIF Working group will be having its fifth face to face meeting at the end of the month and is closing in on the long-anticipated first working draft of the RIF CORE. The RIF CORE is designed to be a very small rule language having a minimal set of rule features shared by the vast majority of rule languages. The design goal is that rules corresponding to the CORE dialect written in any rule language will be translatable to and from RIF. Clearly this design means that only a very small number and variety of rules in any language will be translatable via the RIF CORE, it is through standard extensions to the CORE that more general rule translations will be enabled. This is another important feature of the overall RIF design, which is discussed in a short article on the RIF Wiki.
