Live Subtitling and Accessibility is an evolving area with diverse contributions from many fields: Translation Studies, Interpreting Studies, Media Accessibility, Cognitive Science, Engineering, Sociology, etc. At the same time accessible telecommunication technology is increasingly important for everyone who is working, playing or studying remotely. All are relying on real-time communication (RTC) for their daily needs.

Joshue O Connor (W3C/WAI) will present at the 7th International Live Subtitling and Accessibility Symposium his research on RTC Accessibility User Requirements, which outlines some of the challenges faced by people with disabilities in this space, as well as indicating user needs and potential requirements. This symposium is kindly hosted by the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona.
