On May 14, 2026 W3C Japan held its first 2026 W3C Japan Member Meeting at Keio University, Tokyo, Japan. The four-hour meeting, held from 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM, consisted of three parts: Part I covered operational updates, Part II covered technical updates, and Part III featured a special interview commemorating the 30th anniversary of W3C Japan.

All presentations reflected the latest developments and offered valuable insights into future W3C activities. The special discussion in Part III featured an in-depth conversation—so engaging that the hour felt like 30 minutes—between Jun Murai and Yoshihisa Aono, CEO of Cybozu, Inc., a company that launched web services one year after W3C was established in Japan in 1996. They discussed topics such as the Web environment for everyone in the AI-driven era, as well as Japan’s responsibilities and roles.

Following the meeting, the “W3C in Japan 30th Anniversary Reception” was held. Attendees included not only W3C members but also many alumni who have established shape W3C in Japan over the years. Participants from diverse industries engaged in conversations about the past and future of W3C, deepening their connections.

W3C in Japan will continue to work in coordination with W3C to build a Web for everyone.
