piece of cake!

Today is Tim Berners-Lee's birthday and we'd like to wish him a very happy birthday and many happy returns of the day.

Happy birthday, Tim!

We are so grateful that you invented the Web  27 years ago! and that you are shepherding us, at the W3C (the Team, our members and all our 40+ Working Groups in our work including: Security, Internationalization, Accessibility, Web Applications and more) in leading the Web to its full potential.

Thank you for all you do for the Web (in inventing it) and the world, in sharing it for free, advocating for an Open Web, working to protect it and to bring it to the whole world -- to truly be for everyone; a rich, creative resource for all.

We are honored to know you, to work with and for you, and we wish you all the best this and every year.

(Anecdotically, the piece of cake icon has been on the Web for 19 years, 7 months. That this birthday cake was the first image in the W3C icon directory shows just a bit of the sense of caring, humanity and connectedness that are so much a part of this group and the work we do.)
