Discuss the benefits of ISO/IEC 23008-12 (HEIF) as a supported imagery format in web browsers. Review HEIF capabilities against emerging use cases to show benefits over legacy formats. Discuss codec options and container capabilities vs restrictions related to a specific codec.

Promote discussion and build consensus for adopting HEIF as an imagery format in web browsers.

  1. Give a short presentation on HEIF (15-20 minutes),
  2. Pose a few key questions and generate discussion (20 minutes), and
  3. Conclude with generating agreement on next steps (10 minutes)
