Call for Participation in Threats and Harms Community Group

The Threats and Harms Community Group has been launched:

This group’s purpose is to develop documentation around threats and harms related to societal impacts and Human Rights issues, outside the scope of other areas already addressed by other W3C groups, such as Accessibility, Privacy, Security, Internationalisation, and Sustainability. Examples of the kind of work proposed include human rights threat modelling, principles, checklists, and questionnaires that could become part of, or help to inform, wide review. This group welcomes participation by civil society organizations.

This group will not publish Specifications.

In order to join the group, you will need a W3C account. Please note, however, that W3C Membership is not required to join a Community Group.

This is a community initiative. This group was originally proposed on 2026-07-28 by Daniel Appelquist. The following people supported its creation: Daniel Appelquist, Nick Doty, Florian Scholz, Hidde de Vries and Paulo Santos. W3C’s hosting of this group does not imply endorsement of the activities.

The group must now choose a chair. Read more about how to get started in a new group and good practice for running a group.
