Call for Participation in Mixed Reality Service Community Group

The Mixed Reality Service Community Group has been launched:

The Mixed Reality Service Community Group will work to define an open protocol that provides a mapping between geospatial or virtual coordinates and URIs.

Mixed Reality Service has numerous applications in areas as varied as gaming, autonomous vehicles, health & safety, and affordances for the disabled. More details can be found at mixedrealitysystem.org

This group will expand upon the work presented at WWW1, and re-introduced in a lightning talk at the initial WebVR meeting in October 2016.

In order to join the group, you will need a W3C account. Please note, however, that W3C Membership is not required to join a Community Group.

This is a community initiative. This group was originally proposed on 2017-03-20 by Mark Pesce. The following people supported its creation: Mark Pesce, Jeffrey Sonstein, Olivier Thereaux, Sandy Ressler, Owen Rowley, Tony Parisi, Zac Pullen, Viveka Weiley, Michael Ottey, Michela Ledwidge, Jennifer Wilson, Oliver Weidlich, Jelina Korhecz, Philippe van Nedervelde, Xavier Ho, Alexandre Nicastro, Mike McCann, Sean White. W3C’s hosting of this group does not imply endorsement of the activities.

The group must now choose a chair. Read more about how to get started in a new group and good practice for running a group.

We invite you to share news of this new group in social media and other channels.

If you believe that there is an issue with this group that requires the attention of the W3C staff, please email us at site-comments@w3.org

Thank you,
W3C Community Development Team
