  • 2003-2005: Team Contact for the Multimodal Interaction Working Group. Contributing to the writing, editing and publication of the EMMA, InkML and MMI System and Enviroment specifications. Presented the work of the group at conferences (see below).
  • 2001-2005: Mathematics Activity Lead. Managing the Math Working Group administration, contributing to the projects of the group: co-wrote and edited MathML specification, writing and reviewing WG notes and documents, maintaining the public and WG Web pages, assisting the WG with chartering and publication process. Wroting presentations and articles on mathematics on the Web (see below).
  • 2000-2003: Team contact for the XSL Working Group. Contributed to the XSLT2.0, XPath2.0, and XSL 1.0 specifications. Provided administration for the WG and helped with rechartering and publication process. Wrote presentations and articles on XSL (see below).
  • 2001-2003: Participated in EU "Question-how" project. Presented and assisted with the development of the following deliverables:
    • "Interop Tour": presentation of W3C technologies in Europe
    • "XSLT Showcase": demonstration of XSLT applications
    • "MathML QA": development of the MathML test suite and validator.
  • 2002-2004: Participated in "Semantic Web Advanced Development Europe" EU project: working on the following deliverables:
    • "Integration with XML Technology": developed an RDF Parser in XSLT, and studied the canonicalisation of RDF/XML
    • "Semantic Web and Web Services": currently writing a mapping between the RDF and SOAP data models, and developing the tools to roundtrip the two.
    • Writing the corresponding research reports.
  • Reviewed Web related research papers (MathML Conference 2002, SVG Open 2003, XML Europe 2003, XTech 2005) and books on Web technologies.

• 1997-2000: Research Officer, University of Bath, UK. Computer Graphics Group:
  • Developed IRCS, a complete 2D rendering system for colour compositing of very large bitmap images, and geometric shapes (still in use).
  • Contributed to the design of image analysis and vectorisation software.
  • Wrote and contributed to research publications, presented research work at various conferences and workshops (see below).
  • Developed student administration tools for School of Mathematics, still in use.
  • Contributed to two major research projects:
    • "Platform For Animation and Virtual Reality", funded under the EU Training and Mobility of Researchers programme.

      Goal: to study common problems in distributed virtual reality and 3D animation.

    • "Quasi-3D", funded by the UK Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council.

      Goal: develop an computer graphics animation system using 2D cels disposed in a 3D enviroment around which the camera can move.

  • Reviewed and commented on articles for computer graphics journals and conferences.
• 1990-1992: part-time software engineer in cartography systems, Imagia Software, France. Developed image decoder, vector drawing software, and ADA binding for the GKS graphics library.
