What business results/metrics are you seeing and using to justify IA investment?
Posted on:I’m working on making the case to my executives to invest more dollars in Website IA. Their mindset is ‘what will it get for me?’ in terms of real business results. How are others addressing this challenge ? What results/metrics are you seeing and using ?
For me the argument is about scalability of future features and content releases. The result is a scalable platform. Which means decreased costs for future development and content management. This allows a team to do more with less work and time. It allows a company to stay ahead of the competition in terms of web usability. Implementing new ideas faster and easier. This is key for the success of large sites in competitive markets.
Content relevance is also SEO relevance. You could measure inbound organic traffic from search provided you work SEO strategy into the IA plans.
On the development scalability side. You could look into development team velocity or even bug creation ratios.
