Call for Participation in Infinite Canvas Community Group
The Infinite Canvas Community Group has been launched:
The Infinite Canvas Community Group explores the needs of infinite canvas tools—including spatial canvas applications, whiteboarding platforms, and collaborative design environments—in relation to the web standards platform. Building on the Open Canvas Working Group’s development of the Open Canvas Interchange Format (OCIF), this group will:
- Identify web platform requirements for infinite canvas applications
- Develop interoperability standards for infinite canvas data exchange
- Explore integration points with existing W3C specifications (SVG, Canvas APIs, Web Components, etc.)
The group aims to establish how existing web standards can better support infinite canvas use cases and where new standardization efforts may be beneficial, fostering an ecosystem where different infinite canvas tools can interoperate seamlessly on the web platform.
In order to join the group, you will need a W3C account. Please note, however, that W3C Membership is not required to join a Community Group.
This is a community initiative. This group was originally proposed on 2025-10-28 by Orion Reed. The following people supported its creation: Amir Hameed Mir, Muezza Wani, Orion Reed, Jess Martin and Michael Greig. W3C’s hosting of this group does not imply endorsement of the activities.
The group must now choose a chair. Read more about how to get started in a new group and good practice for running a group.
We invite you to share news of this new group on social media and other channels.
If you believe that there is an issue with this group that requires the attention of the W3C staff, please email us at site-comments@w3.org
Thank you,
W3C Community Development Team
