E-Participation and Role Conflicts
Topical to participatory democracy are the sociological, professional and expert roles of participants. Each participant has a number of roles amidst the discussion topics and processes of participatory democracy.

Role conflicts occur when incompatible demands are placed upon individuals such that compliance with both or all would be difficult. Individuals may feel that they are responsible for multiple roles within settings; when the expectations of multiple roles are incompatible, role conflict exists.
The topics are pertinent to the social sciences, psychology and sociology. In psychology, the discipline of group dynamics recognizes role conflicts within group settings.
