Proposed Group: Biomass Open Origin Standard for Tracking (BOOST) Community Group

The Biomass Open Origin Standard for Tracking (BOOST) Community Group has been proposed by Peter Tittmann:

The BOOST Community Group brings together stakeholders from across the biomass value chain to develop interoperable data formats and protocols for tracking biomass materials from source to end-use. Our mission is to improve transparency, verification, and trust in biomass supply chains through standardized digital systems.

Purpose and Scope

This Community Group aims to:

  • Define common data models, vocabularies, and exchange formats for biomass chain of custody information
  • Improve interoperability between existing traceability systems
  • Create specifications supporting sustainable biomass verification across international supply chains
  • Enable digital integration between forestry, agriculture, processing, and energy production systems

Who Should Participate

We welcome participation from:

  • Forestry and agricultural organizations
  • Bioenergy and biomaterial producers
  • Sustainability certification bodies
  • Supply chain technology providers
  • Policymakers and regulators
  • Academic and research institutions

Join us in shaping open technologies that enhance transparency, reduce administrative burden, and support verified sustainability claims throughout the biomass supply chain.

You are invited to support the creation of this group. Once the group has a total of 5 supporters, it will be launched and people can join to begin work. In order to support the group, you will need a W3C account.

Once launched, the group will no longer be listed as “proposed”; it will be in the list of current groups.

If you believe that there is an issue with this group that requires the attention of the W3C staff, please send us email on site-comments@w3.org

Thank you,
