Proposed Group: PDF and Open Data Community Group
Posted on:The PDF and Open Data Community Group has been proposed by Larry Masinter:
PDF has a reputation of being bad for ‘open data’, but there are already features of PDF that can be used for storing and retrieving data associated with parts of a PDF file, and more features coming.
A draft charter will be posted soon.
You are invited to support the creation of this group. Once the group has a total of five supporters, it will be launched and people can join to begin work. In order to support the group, you will need a W3C account.
Once launched, the group will no longer be listed as “proposed”; it will be in the list of current groups.
If you believe that there is an issue with this group that requires the attention of the W3C staff, please send us email on site-comments@w3.org
Thank you,
W3C Community Development Team
I’m hoping to hash out the charter in time for TPAC
https://www.w3.org/wiki/TPAC2016/SessionIdeas#Achieving_5_Star_Open_Data_with_PDF suggests:
We are looking to start a community group to work on a series of best practices (and then leading to more) around the best use of PDF for achieving the full 5 stars of Open Data.
