Mission & Vision

• Augmentation Over Automation: The group focuses on developing open, transparent AI tools that assist human authors, preserving human judgment, domain expertise, and community consensus.
• Modernizing the Web: Web standard drafting has relied on manual, collaborative, iterative reviews for decades; this group bridges that gap using modern AI pattern recognition, natural language understanding, and systematic evaluation.

• Origins: Emerged from a TPAC 2025 breakout session, heavily leaning on concepts from the AI KR Community Group.
• Membership: Open to the public; requires a free W3C account, but W3C Membership is not mandatory to participate.

• AI Agent Protocol Community Group: Develops interoperable protocols for AI agents to discover, identify, and collaborate across the web.
• Web Machine Learning Community Group: Works on interfaces like WebMCP (Web Model Context Protocol), which allows web applications to share features as structured tools directly to AI agents.
