Version 1.0 Charter Adopted: AI Agent Memory Interoperability Community Group
The AI Agent Memory Interoperability Community Group has adopted its version 1.0 charter (19 June 2026). The charter was circulated to the group’s public mailing list for a Call for Consensus on 5 June 2026 and adopted in the absence of sustained objection, per the charter’s consensus provision.
Our scope is deliberately narrow: a common, vendor-neutral shape for how AI agents store, recall, share, and erase memory across different implementations. In practice that means a portable memory-cell format, post-quantum agent identity (ML-DSA-65 / FIPS-204), capability-scoped sharing with revocation, tamper-evident audit trails, and cryptographic erasure aligned with GDPR Article 17. The group also maintains crosswalks to adjacent frameworks, including the NIST AI Risk Management Framework, ISO/IEC 42001 and 27001, the EU AI Act, and the Model Context Protocol. It is intentionally chain-agnostic and does not specify any particular ledger, vector store, agent runtime, or tool-routing layer.
The group works one level above the wire protocol. It normatively references the Internet-Draft “The Sovereign AI Horizontal Memory (SAIHM) Protocol” (draft-saihm-memory-protocol, Independent Submission stream) as the protocol’s normative home, and it will not develop a competing normative specification. Consistent with the W3C Community and Business Group Process, the group publishes Community Group Reports; it does not produce W3C Recommendations or standards.
I chair the group as its convener. It is vendor-neutral and open to every implementer, and participation does not imply endorsement of any particular implementation. For transparency: I also maintain SAIHM, one implementation in this space. The group is not tied to it, and the scope restriction above exists partly to keep that boundary clear.
