Reconciliation in 2025

In 2025 our group continued its monthly meetings and asynchronous work via GitHub. The specifications of the protocol got more polished, with improvements now focusing more on consistency and editorial quality than major functional changes. The test bench got separated into two versions, one to test services implementing protocol versions 0.1 / 0.2, and one for the current draft of 1.0. This will help service developers test their services using tooling dedicated to the version they are targeting.

The Canadian Knowledge Graph for the Arts (artsdata.ca) has integrated a batch reconciliation tool using spec 1.0-draft. This provides the community of Artsdata stewards with match, extend and suggest services to reconcile large numbers of people, places, organizations and events from different cultural organizations across Canada. This effort also provided valuable feedback on the new version of the protocol.

Our efforts to migrate from a Community Group to a Working Group are gathering momentum, as it also aligns with W3C’s initiative to ease such transitions. Stay tuned for more developments in 2026!
