life.
- Workshops, tutorials, conferences, visits, etc.
W3C and Internet Governance
- Our feedback to
the UN: modularity and separation of roles:
- Standardization is one of the essential building blocks of the
Information Society
- IETF and W3C share the primary responsibility for the Internet and Web
layers
- Cross-layer coordination is required - not just
between technologists - but let's not allow one layer to assume the role
of another.
WGIG/ICANN report and W3C
- We're not directly concerned as Web technologists
- .. but we care a lot as users of DNS and IP
- and we care that the UN vision
of the IST is in line with ours
- We're not really on the WGIG political agenda
- Good because it means we're not controversial
- Not so good because IST standardisation has lots of policy
implication
- W3C on ICANN board
- Closer collaboration in 2006.
- We hope to have a role to play in keeping the Internet stable
W3C and the WSIS
- W3C recognizes the importance of the WSIS
Declaration of Principles
- W3C strongly shares the vision of an Information Society in which
everyone can create, access, utilize and share
information and knowledge
- We are very excited by the opportunity to welcome even more
participants!
Thank you!
