High-Performance Computing Community Group

This community group is focused on bringing high performance computing (HPC) to the web. In particular, we're interested in making the computing and data resources that underlie simulation science, scientific computing, and data-centric science easily accessible through web browsers. Our members are working on APIs that expose HPC resources via the web, as well as gateways and web applications that take advantage of these APIs. The major goal of this community is to accelerate the pace of development of web-based HPC applications. Recognizing that we can build on each other's work, and that a consistent approach to developing such tools can enable features that require communication across multiple computing centers, we are interested in sharing technologies and ideas.

Group's public email, repo and wiki activity over time

Note: Community Groups are proposed and run by the community. Although W3C hosts these conversations, the groups do not necessarily represent the views of the W3C Membership or staff.

Recurring Meetings

At our last meeting, we decided to set a recurring meeting time, so that participants can plan further in advance. We’ll meet up by phone the first Thursday of each month at 2:00 Pacific Time. Call-in information will be sent via the mailing list. Join us!

Remember the Wiki!

Just a reminder that I’ve been updating the wiki meetings page with my notes on our conference calls. It’s a good place to get up to speed on what we’re discussing and what we’ve covered so far. Members are also welcome to update or augment the notes.

Let’s Elect a Chair

We need to have a chair for this group, so I’ve put together a poll. Since we only have one nominee, this will be a pretty quick poll. The poll widget is too simple to let people write in a candidate, but you can add one in the comments if you like.

Next Telecon May 15

Let’s have our next show-and-tell/business meeting on May 15. To make life easier for those in Europe, I’d like to schedule this meeting a bit earlier in the day than last time, at 9:00 am PST. Also, we need to move forward on electing a chair for the group. I think we can take care of the nominations via email in advance of the meeting. Please send a message to the group if you wish to nominate someone or offer yourself as a nominee. Finally, if you have something to demo, please let me know directly.
