Translations are also available in: French and Spanish
This update provides information on activities of the World Wide Web Consortium's (W3C) Web Accessibility Initiative (WAI), for the "Web Accessibility Initiative: Training, Implementation, Education and Support" (WAI-TIES) Project in Europe.
A new Working Draft of the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines 2.0 (WCAG 2.0) as well as four supporting Techniques documents were published 19 November 2004. The Web Content Accessibility Guidelines Working Group (WCAG WG) invites your comments by 3 January 2005. (Check WAI Web site for possible extension.) Read the WAI Interest Group announcement which suggests questions to address when commenting on this draft and explains how to submit comments.
Authoring Tool Accessibility Guidelines 2.0 (ATAG 2.0) provides guidelines for designing authoring tools that support production of Web content that is accessible for people with disabilities. The Authoring Tool Accessibility Guidelines Working Group (AUWG) published a Last Call Working Draft of ATAG 2.0, on 22 November 2004 and invites your comments by 18 January 2005. Read the WAI Interest Group announcement for suggestions of questions to address, and to find out how to submit comments.
Presentations from Web Accessibility Best Practices Exchange (BPE) trainings on 9-10 February 2004 in Madrid, Spain and on 6 July 2004 in Paris, France are available. While the two-day BPE training in Madrid covered a wide spectrum of topics, the hands-on BPE training in Paris focused on evaluating Web sites for accessibility. The titles of the presentations in the "Presentations" sections of each BPE training home page link to the contributions of the presenters.
The WAI-TIES Update is a periodic electronic mailing containing information relating to Web accessibility in Europe, with distribution through existing mailing lists.
