Description

GoNTogle, is a tool for document annotation and retrieval, built on top of Semantic Web and IR technologies. GoNTogle provides both manual and automatic ontology-based annotations facilities, supporting documents of several formats (doc, pdf, txt, rtf, odt, sxw, etc.). Annotation is based on standard Semantic Web technologies like, OWL and RDF/S. All annotations are stored in a centralized server, providing an collaborative environment. A learning method, exploiting textual information and user annotation history, is proposed to support the automatic annotation mechanism.

GoNTogle also provides three search types: i) Keyword-based search, ii) Semantic-based search and iii) Hybrid search, which combines the keyword-based and semantic-based ones. Finally, several advanced ontology-based searching facilities are provided, including the capability to expand or shrink the resulting list using ontology information, in order to help the user retrieve high quality results.

New: Web-based version

Features

  • Web-based application (new)
  • Document semantic annotations
  • Viewing and annotating popular document types (ex. pdf, doc, txt, etc.) while maintaining their initial format
  • Automatic/Manual annotation
  • Annotate whole and/or part of the documents
  • Supports OWL, RDF/S ontologies
  • Share annotations over centralized ontology server
  • Search facilities : keyword-based , semantic-based and hybrid search
  • Advanced ontology-based search facilities
