Instructions for Commenting on WCAG 2.0 Documents
Page Contents
Introduction
The WCAG Working Group is primarily looking for implementations of the WCAG 2.0 Candidate Recommendation. Please check the WCAG 2.0 Candidate Recommendation Implementation Information page for information about that process including where to send questions about implementations. If you do have comments about the specification itself, you can follow the instructions below to comment.
The WCAG 2.0 Candidate Recommendation integrates minor changes in response to comments received on the Last Call Working Draft. It is now ready for trial implementations as part of the next stages in completing WCAG 2.0.
When you review the updated documents, if there are any significant additional issues that you feel could present a barrier to adoption and implementation of WCAG 2.0, please submit comments by 30 June 2008, per the instructions below.
There are 4 documents available to comment on:
- 1 Working Draft
- 3 supporting documents
- WCAG 2.0 Quick Reference Working Draft
- Understanding WCAG 2.0 Working Draft
- Techniques for WCAG 2.0 Working Draft
A good place to start your review is with the Overview of WCAG 2.0 Documents, which explains the role of each of these documents and how they relate to each other.
How to Comment
The Working Group requests that you submit comments through the online comment form.
If this is not possible, you can send comments to public-comments-wcag20@w3.org. If you send an email without using the comment form, we encourage to include the title of the document, location within the document, the concern, and the suggested change, as is requested in the form, so that we can best understand and address your comments.
Note that comments are publicly available in the archive for the WCAG 2.0 public comments mailing list. All comments will be reviewed by the WCAG Working Group.
Submitting Techniques
To submit additional techniques for consideration by the WCAG Working Group, please use the Techniques for WCAG 2.0 submission form.

Do I need to comment on all of the documents now?
We are focusing on gathering implementation experience for WCAG 2.0. WCAG 2.0 is in late stages of becoming a W3C Recommendation—a Web standard. Comments should arrive as soon as possible. The Working Group hopes to receive implementation experience by 30 June 2008, and comments should be sent by that time.
The WCAG Working Group expects to publish Understanding WCAG 2.0 and Techniques for WCAG 2.0 as Working Group Notes. These documents are Notes because we expect them to change as new techniques are developed and as the WCAG Working Group has time to address other technologies. We also expect that feedback gathered from implementation experience will provide more techniques and tests.
Why do you prefer comments in a specific format?
We prefer that commenters use the form in order to make sure we can locate the place people are commenting on and to be sure we understand both the issue being raised and the changes being suggested. We will also be logging each comment separately. If one person makes 12 comments, each comment is logged individually so that we can consider all of the comments on each item together. Using the forms facilitate this and ensures that each comment is considered. It will also facilitate providing responses to each comment.
