1. Best Practices Training on Evaluation of Accessible Web Sites, 6 July 2004, Paris

WAI-TIES will hold a full-day training on evaluation of Web site accessibility on 6 July in Paris, France. This hands-on training, in English, for experienced Web developers will provide an overview of the evaluation process, and detailed information on evaluating conformance to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines 1.0. Space is limited and pre-registration is required.

2. Teleconference on Making Visualizations of Complex Information Accessible, 28 June 2004

The Research and Development Interest Group (RDIG) will hold a teleconference exploring accessibility issues in visualization of complex information, such as scientific measurements, financial data, modelling and simulation results, demographic information, and metrics describing the Web itself. Space is limited and pre-registration is required. Proceedings, including a summary of research questions, from a prevous RDIG teleconference on making collaboration technologies accessible to people with disabilities are available.

3. Working Draft of Web Content Accessibility Guidelines 2.0

The Web Content Accessibility Guidelines Working Group released a new public Working Draft of the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines 2.0 (WCAG 2.0) on 11 March 2004 and welcomes comments. Feedback from the broadest possible audience contributes to the quality of the guidelines. Information on how to send comments is available in the "status" section of the document.

4. Working Draft of Authoring Tool Accessibility Guidelines 2.0

The Authoring Tool Accessibility Guidelines Working Group released a new public Working Draft of the Authoring Tool Accessibility Guidelines 2.0 (ATAG 2.0) on 24 February 2004 and welcomes comments. ATAG 2.0 addresses support for production of accessible content through all types of Web authoring tools including HTML editors, conversion tools (save-as-HTML tools), content management systems, and more.

5. Working Draft on Inaccessibility of Visually-Oriented Anti-Robot Tests

The Protocols and Formats Working Group released a Working Draft on 5 November 2003 analyzing accessibility barriers presented by visual verification of bitmapped images that are increasingly used to limit access to services made available over the Web. This Working Draft examines a number of potential solutions. Comments welcome.

6. WAI Resources Page Updated

The Education and Outreach Working Group (EOWG) updated the WAI Resources Page, which is an annotated reference list of W3C/WAI documents including guidelines, techniques, checklists, evaluation resources, information on translations, and materials to help promote awareness and implementation of Web accessibility. New materials are periodically added to the list.
