Video-Based Resources/Accessibility Statements

From Education & Outreach

Purpose

Encourage organizations to provide accessibility statements for their websites and mobile apps, to demonstrate support for accessibility.

Objectives

  • Educate organizations on the importance of accessibility statements
  • Encourage organizations to adopt an open dialog with their customers

Primary Audience

  • Owners of websites and mobile apps who care about accessibility
  • Accessibility advocates who want owners to promote accessibility

Approach

Mostly animated video (eg. whiteboard with concepts appearing as they are explained, illustrations of main concepts, keywords being emphasized, etc.).

Outline (~1 minute)

This video is intended to be integrated into the resource Developing an Accessibility Statement

  • Opening
  • "Do you want to demonstrate that you care about accessibility?"
  • "An accessibility statement is a powerful way of communicating that"
  • "Accessibility statements can be as brief as providing a contact point"
  • "Already this demonstrates that you care about accessibility and about your customers with disabilities"
  • "It is also an opportunity for you to explain more about the measures and actions that your organization takes towards accessibility"
  • "It helps set the expectations for accessibility and help people to find support when things don't work as expected"
  • "This improved user experience can help improve your reputation and help distinguish your products and services from competitors"
  • "It can also help you have closer relationships with your customers and to learn about how you can further improve on accessibility"
