Meeting minutes

Oct-23

Sebastian: some small typo corrections...

Sebastian: any objection to publishing?

Sebastian: no objections - will be published

Agenda and Logistics for WoT Week/Plugfest

Sebastian: will start at 9am on Monday... see https://www.w3.org/WoT/IG/wiki/Wiki_for_WoT_Week_2024_planning#Agenda_%28Draft%29
… will provide lunch and coffee
… will also be a small lab tour
… will go until 6pm, then have a visit to the Xmas market and dinner at 7pm
… dinner tbc, not sponsored
… similar schedule for Tuesday, w/o lab tour
… Wed will be "conference" day, see registration link on wiki
… please do register, Siemens will be sponsoring various things and would like to have a head count
… currently have about 20 places left, now open to the public, first-come-first-served at this point

McCool: note that list of topics on Thursday will be reorganized later; question marks means we still need confirmation

Sebastian: for plugfest, are now organizing attendees
… we need also to understand how many demos we have, and who will give them
… want to know who will want a table, there are limited number of spaces
… so far I have allocated tables for Siemens and TUM
… TUM has a robot

Sebastian: McCool, you will be remote?

McCool: plan an AI service based on Frigate, need to pair with someone for demo

Josh: I can hook up with IP cameras

Sebastian: still trying to find out how big the tables are

Sebastian: so will put McCool, ArmorSafe, and IP camera from Ignite on one table

Sebastian: and also a demo from UC Dublin, may be shared

Kaz: two questions
… no only agenda, but also logistics?
… these tables are a good starting point...
… maybe have a different format
… maybe a per-table description

Sebastian: for now just grouping so can figure out the number of tables
… so I can let the event team know
… after that can organize "topics" for each table

Sebastian: also was thinking about having another table...

McCool: think we should organize tables around themes rather than organizations

Toumura: also planning a demo, but just a small device

Sebastian: what kind of device?

Sebastian: protocol?

Toumura: http for now, but thinking of using 0MQ

Toumura: also a discovery service

Sebastian: will create a placeholder for now...

Fady: the robot arm has its own table...
… event organizers will not need to provide one...
… it is also very big
… safety issues?

Fady: I would have to be there at all time to watch over the stop button
… it has force detection but we should also ensure the area around it is clear

Kaz: could fady and roman self-introduce?

Fady: part of WoT since 2021, PhD candidate at TUM
… in final phase of PhD program... so this is a wrapup; Roman is my successor

Roman: just started at TUM as a PhD student; did Master's on this topic

McCool: (Roman above refers to Roman Binkert)

McCool: Toumura going to start a discovery service?

McCool: ideally we would have one discovery service, as well as having TDs in the github repo
… let's at least create a section on the logistics page for TD registration, archival, discovery, etc.

Kaz: let's just create a "Discovery and Registration" section

Sebastian: ok, mostly empty, will let McCool and others fill in

pull requests

PR 598

<kaz> PR 598 - WoT Week: Add dart_wot app to list of consumers

jan: new TD, is both a consumer and discoverer
… basically an app
… is a conflict, will try to resolve

Sebastian: it is just the table, since I did other edits
… do you need a lot of space, or just a laptop?
… will put you on Table 4 for now...
… are you representing Eclipse?

Sebastian: (resolves conflict, commits fix)

Sebastian: (merges PR)

Table Updated

<kaz> WoT Week page

Sebastian: ok, table should be more complete now
… starting to look good
… if people can please provide details as soon as possible
… very soon we should talk about test scenarios

VPN connection

McCool: Toumura-san has set up the VPN and it's working now
… (shows some demo)

Ege: can also show some next week

Sebastian: how to proceed?
… can we share the information?

McCool: we should not share the password, etc.

McCool: let's start with showing the mechanism is working well

Sebastian: the password should be shared only to the Plugfest participants

McCool: right
… btw, thinking about more direct connection between the voice UI and the video camera
… working with Josh

Sebastian: what about the IP address assignment?

McCool: good question
… not sure if the DHCP service would be stable enough
… btw, noticed the base address would be more stable
… some unique name for the Plugfest should be used

Sebastian: great to see the status
… usually it takes long for us to set up the network configuration for Plugfests

McCool: ideally would be better to have some directory service, though

Ege: if people are OK with using static IP addresses, that would be also OK

McCool: please don't use too generic name for your devices

Kaz: as Sebastian mentioned, this is really nice. and actually, that's why I strongly suggested we set up VPN first :) BTW, we can use the WoT Plugfest mailing list, which is limited to the Plugfest participants, to share the password, etc.

new ml for Plugfest prep

Sebastian: tx
… one more point is presentation of our demos

Demo Presentations

Sebastian: opportunites to present demos on stage, also opportunity for posters
… but posters are only A1

Sebastian: started working on a poster template... will discuss in Chairs' call

Sebastian: last thing, link to conference it open and public, feel free to invite people who may be interested
… link is also on wiki page

Sebastian: adjourn
