Introduction of new participants
Martin: I am small a company in South of Munich working in Automative Industry in vibration comfort, software developer. We have recently adopted the WoT technologies
Aitor: I am coming from Conexus platform, cache management and handling recycling material, looking to integrate WoT in sales integration
Jeremy: From St.Gallen to integrate physical devices to WoT
<jeremy> More precisely, my context for participating would enabling software agents to interact with physical devices through the WoT.
Denis: I am a colleague of Aitor, we are interested to participate in Plugfest, we try to setup a Thing Description on our devices
Larry: Already second time participation in the Plug Fest call
Minutes
<kaz> Oct-16
Sebastian: The minutes from last week are reviewed
… The plug fest calls will be happening every week as the event is near
… any objections to approve the minutes?
(None; approved)
Agenda
<sebastian> https://
Sebastian: We have the opportunity to go on Friday Nov 22 in Siemens to prepare the devices and making first tests. It is not official part of the plug fest.
… A small change is that on Monday, we will do a Siemens lab tour around lunch time
… Tuesday, Nov 27 will be full Plug Fest day
… Wednesday will be the WoT conference, if you are interested to present at this conference you are welcome to do so
… We will talk later about the organization like posters and so on
David: For the Friday do we have a timeframe?
Sebastian: I will clarify the timings, but I think 7pm sounds a bit too late
David: Some of our people may be earlier in town and they may want to drop by to get a feel
Sebastian: For Wednesday event, we have finalized the agenda
… We are starting on 12:00, welcome and networking, it will be a lso good time to look at the WoT demos that are available
<LarryR> 12:00am is midnight and 12:00pm is noon.....corrrect?
Sebastian: then there will be the opening, Markus Reigl will do this, then from Dr. Dirk Didascalou and from TU Munchen
… introduction to W3C and WoT from W3C and WoT chairs
… this will be followed by which industries are already using WoT
… then we move on to the PLug Fest demo results, everyone has the chance to do a quick pitch, this is 1 minute
… then there will be the final session, future potentials of WoT
… after that we go to the WoT Gala dinner
Kaz: the starting time for Wednesday at 12:00 means noon?
… the slide said midnight
Sebastian: Slide changed to 12:00 PM
McCool: how many will join?
Sebastian: We currently have a list of participants who have mentioned they will be coming, it would good to also add the new members who are already not in the list
Sebastian: Is someone missing from the list?
Jeremy: From our side, Andrei will not join and instead on his behalf Jeremey will be joining
… also Schultz, Kai will join. For your information I will be only joining on Monday and Tuesday, and Kai will join from Wednesday
… we need to do a final clarification of our timings
Sebastian: If you have not done yet, for the WoT conference would be good to do the registration.
Sebastian: Is there any further question on the agenda?
… On Thursday and Friday, Microsoft is hosting it, we should schedule the agenda. I could put DTDL already inside as a point for reminder
Technical Requirement
<sebastian> https://
Sebastian: We have in this page a detailed planning of the Plug Fest, so that we can think about what kind of scenario we want to have
PR 596
Ege: There is a PR which updates this
Sebastian: yes, we will initially go through the current one and look at the PR
… Mathias Kovatsch is joining the event and he will be bringing some Siemens devices
<sebastian> PR 596 - Siemens KNX IOT devices
PR 597
<kaz> PR 597 - Add protocol information
Sebastian: there is another PR from Ege about protocol implementation
Ege: some of them don't have the protocol information yet because I do not have the information, there is instead currently for some a question mark.
McCool: For WLAN do we also want to worry about port numbers?
Sebastian: thats solved by the VPN connection
McCool: HTTP is the simple case, but we have to worry about other protocols like MQTT, Modbus and so on
… maybe we also collect the port number
Sebastian: i thought we are using the VPN connection so that we don't need to worry about the port numbers
Ege: I need to check this
Kaz: We need to look into which port will be used by which service, then think about the actual configuration for the VPN. My second point is that this time we don't need to use the IPv6 address
Sebastian: I'm not sure
Kaz: Usually we use the IPv4, and not IPv6, we need to clarify our need for that too
Sebastian: I think we need to double check this
Sebastian: I would merge the following PR as it adds more info on the protocol
<sebastian> w3c/
Ege: Maybe for those who already know the protocols, maybe you could already tell me
Denis: It is HTTP from our side
McCool: Another issue is HTTPS and certificates, if we need to run it locally we need the certificates, I might also run some services on the Internet with access control. Maybe we should also clarify if is local or on the internet, if on the Internet we need to impose HTTPS
Ege: Luca what protocol do you support?
Luca: Right now we have HTTP, but I still need to refresh the codebase, in any case HTTP/HTTPS
Ege: From Ignite Retail, there is an IP camera, are we using the pure stream?
(currently no one from there side on the call)
<jthomas> I'm checking in on the protocol of the cameras
<EgeKorkan> ah ok :) I can update it afterwards
Sebastian: Please provide PRs to the provided table to update the content
… if someone has problems with Github please send us an email, we will provide the information for you
McCool: I like to reach out to some of these people, do we have contact list of emails somewhere to access offline?
David: For the Conexus group I can add the emails of the list
McCool: I was wondering an email list, I don't want that to be public
… Josh, I want to do an AI service to do speech recognition, I need camera and a speaker onsight. Does your camera also support audio?
josh: I need to check that
McCool: Maybe we need to chat offline about that
… I will not be there in person
josh: I will be in Munich
Kaz: I can create a mailing list for that purpose, do we want to have a mailing list for all the WoT participants or only the Plug Fest list?
McCool: Plug Fest pariticipants
Kaz: I can start preparing the list and contact key persons if required
Sebastian: Thank you for that
Ege: In the community group side, we setup a channel for this sort of chat style, for the Plug Fest we also created a channel
<EgeKorkan> https://
Sebastian: Is it a Dscord channel?
Ege: Yes
<jeremy> I have to leave now. Goodbye!
Sebastian: I'm not sure if we mainly should rely on the Discord, should be for quick questions
ACTION: kaz to create a ML including all the Plugfest participants
David: Hookup with camera Josh and Michael, that would be a game changer for our work
Sebastian: I'm looking forward to see what will be possible
Plugfest VPN Network
Sebastian: for everyone coming to Garching the people should be in the VPN network, we need to of course test this, what is the status about this Ege and Tomoro San?
Ege: I think Toumura San already setup something
ktoumura: I'm checking this, please wait some moments about this
Sebastian: we will also need to evaluate the port stuff, whether the ports are open
Ege: Once you have something Toumura, would be very nice to test it
Sebastian: What would be cool is that if we have the VPN network running some weeks before the Plugfest, people could connect to the network and test if everything is working
… If you are in the process of testing, let's check next week to see the status
Kaz: Just for a some follow-up for Toumura-san, the VPN instance is available on Amazon Web Service and he's checking it, please clarify your network settings: Port, IP version, protocol and so on. We should update the markdown page accordingly
Presentation of the Plugfest/Demos
Sebastian: We should proceed like last time, where we provide a template, I recommend using the W3C WoT slide style, the same is true for the poster, we would provide a poster slide. We found out that we unfortunately cannot have a big poster size, because our Poster stands in Garching does not have a A0 size, but A1 will fit. I think the A1 is already big enough to give the main information
McCool: We previously talked about display versus having a monitor
Sebastian: We are not able to manage to get so many monitors for everyone
McCool: So you expect everyone to print the poster in advance and bring it?
Sebastian: We are discussing this and still not clarified yet.
McCool: So the current information is: A1, printed and vertical?
Sebastian: yes
Kaz: Just to make sure, you're planning to provide two opportunities, one poster session and one presentation session. Right?
<EgeKorkan> let's start the TD session 10-15 mins past :)
Sebastian: Right. One opportunity is the one slider for the 1 minute pitch session on the big screen, at the same time there will be tables for the demos where you can put a poster for explaining more
