The Strategy Team is considering a number of workshops, on topics including: Color on the Web; Inclusive XR (workshop focused on the needs and benefits at the intersection of VR & Accessibility); Web Archiving; Web and Machine Learning; Time-series data, spatial data and streaming data.

Project

• 30 Working Groups
• 230 active specifications are tracked:
  • 202 aiming to become Recommendations
  • 11 documents are planned to advance to Candidate Recommendation in the next 4 months
  • 27 documents are planned to advance to Proposed Recommendation in the next 6 months
• Resources:
  • The tremendous work done across the Consortium has been gradually moving to GitHub to allow homogeneous work-spaces. As a result, we're doing a better tracking of our 665 GitHub repositories, including their settings.
  • The transition requirements have been updated to keep up with the Process changes. We're looking at switching to use GitHub issues for transitions.
• Testing the Web: web-platform-tests (WPT) is an effort to build a cross-browser testsuite for the majority of the web platform
  • The Project created a Core team to ease decisions. It reflects a broad range of stakeholders, who have the skills necessary to ensure that the project remains true to its stated purpose of improving interoperability on the web platform. W3C continues its support and participation to the project, as well as leveraging the effort to improve its specifications.
  • Between February 8th and March 8th 2019, the project merged 347 pull requests and received 109 new pull requests, involving 136 authors.

• To improve tooling harmonization we retired several legacy services on 1st April 2019:
  • dev.w3.org - W3C Public CVS Repository
  • dvcs.w3.org - Mercurial repositories service
  • Bugzilla - Public Bugzilla
• Deployed rewrite of the W3C Implementation of the Patent Policy (IPP) system.
• Strengthen W3C Blog platform security following an incident in January.
• Improved the Oct 2018 AC Meeting remote participation experience with multiple video feeds.
