Confirming scribe and any agenda additions

PUBS: Upcoming publications, announcements, discussion threads to promote, including on WAI IG?

gk: epub conformance and epub 3.1

fe: will have graphics pubs, but they are only heartbeats

js: expecting COGA ...

mc: COGA docs in bottleneck graphics docs will be joining

jb: whether RQ task force needs to be on the discussion list

js: before Monday we will have a follow up message

on RQ TF

mc: WAI interest group ... have been struggling with invited expert process

jb: do we need to clarify the process?

mc: I wrote it, not the best person to review

tz: a focus group on personalization... that is of interest to dpub

jb: I thought captcha was a solo issue

js: personalization and new authentication methods were 2 separate issues
... not sure about asking an unformed group about personalization ...
... do you want to jump start that with RQTF?

jb: could do a general invitation, with only 1 thing... if you message on 2 things it might give a broader view of what they will be doing

TPAC: Any last schedule or logistics adjustments?

jb: any adjustments -- other than RQTF?

TAG/ARIA discussion: update on recent discussion?

mc: rich, Léonie, and I met with TAG... big part education session explained how ARIA works and use cases...

RQTF: Checking for any follow up on RQTF CAPTCHA thread?

js: I was going to jump start low hanging fruit... and we had a note 11 years ago... and that was the gist of the post
... the message did mention 4 areas of research - personalization, captcha...
... would like to have Jason respond...

TAG/ARIA discussion: update on recent discussion?

<MichaelC> https://pad.w3ctag.org/p/2016-07-29

mc: also discussed accessibility API's before we talked
... ARIA was education for them, touched on topic of whether ARIA should try to cover everything in HTML and every host language
... ARIA doesn't have any solution other than updating specs
... extensability would require UA support, TAG interested in that
... then we might need a comprehensive API... don't have that, may take years to do
... would be years before extensability mechanism could replace ARIA, next steps a draft requirement for ARIA 2 before TPAC
... planning to talk about how it impacts dPub, but did not come up

jb: what is the status with dPub... on this

ts: meeting tomorrow will discuss

jb: did you say the TAG was talking about AAPIs before, are they aware that it is the same WG?

mc: they didn't tell us - mostly a conversation between a Mozilla and MicroSoft person
... when we talked about a general discussion - they didn't mention it

<Judy> https://www.w3.org/2015/10/aria-charter.html#deliverables

jb: sometimes TAG is used to scout issues...
... part of the purpose of TAG
... there may still be keyboard access isusses

mc: talked briefly, but was a tangent, no solutions came up, didn't get through list of issues I prepared

TFs: any TF updates? Conformance accessibility testing, other?

jb: mobile is going well
... any TF chairs have issues not being covered?
... would like an update on testing

andrew: not a lot has happened since the first conversation

awk: problem getting people scheduled

jb: can the testing person come back next week?

gk: saw a task force that would be working on generated text in CSS... not sure of the task force
... not sure daisy has resources to do a TF would be happy to drop in when needed

js: this is a proposed task force between CSS, ARIA and APA...
... TF may covered by the CSS charter

awk: if resources can be called upon from time to time for a specific agenda item, that might be an effective way to get bang for the buck

ts: 95% sure there will be a dPub TF member in the CSS A11Y TF

gk: can you or whoever let us know when there is an issue of interest

js: may want a low traffic way to notify people - also waiting for ARIA 1.1 to get finished

jb: a critical task force to get people engaged in

Updates on accessibility and EME?

<MichaelC> https://www.w3.org/WAI/APA/wiki/Encrypted_Media_Extensions

jb: item somewhat overtaken by events
... APA reviews docs ... was planning on looking again at EME
... left on agenda in case folks have concerns, they can channel to APA

mc: APA had this on the radar, and we decided that we don't have any concerns and would close the review
... since then I have seen some posts...
... and we may want to reopen it

js: discussed history, worth a look... from use cases in MAUR... now with dPub in the mix, maybe want to look at it from that perspective

jb: please keep me updated on this... may have to respond publicly on this

mc: pointers in wiki page, can send them to Janina
... one camp is concerned that AT will be locked out, another camp is AT only needs to follow framework
... may not have consensus on that

gk: readium group is looking at LCP encryption ... that is desirable from a library perspective...
... and the cost of LCP is free or low cost...

<tzviya> http://readium.org/projects/readium-lcp

ts: dPub specs don't say anything about encryption

jb: is there things we need to document?

Liaisons: needs in Community Groups, new WGs, Workshops?

js: we brought it up in APA...

jb: did it get in on the WIA interest groups?

kh: nothing happened on the VR workshop
... i think someone was interested and then unable to go...

jb: would be good to give folks an idea of what W3C workshops are... key opportunities to think about accessibility early in the process

kh: not about being a liason?

jb: nothing to be a liaison with yet.
... I would like to know if anyone in VR is working on accessibility
... what happens is a company may send a couple of key folks... if they hear about accessibility at the workshop...

kh: then we want to ask for use cases

jb: would be happy to work on a message
... web of things has a working group coming along

Any other business?

FYI: Twitter chat last week with White House

<Judy> https://www.w3.org/WAI/EO/wiki/Promotion_and_Outreach_Misc#28_July_2016_Twitter_chat_with_White_House_folks

jb: had tweets from whitehouse

<Ryladog> yeah!!

jb: to participate as the featured item

for tweets

jb: some was replied with different hash tags, invited questions,
... got us about 39K exposure to tweets
... some folks hadn't heard of it... and follow up questions for a day or so

Any other business?

jb: next meeting in two weeks - any major conficts?

<Judy> August 17th?

MC and GK are traveling

<Kathy> I am travelling too
