ISSUE-44: inner shadow

inner shadow

State:
CLOSED
Product:
CSS3 Backgrounds and Borders
Raised by:
Elika Etemad
Opened on:
2008-05-12
Description:
Eli Morris-Heft summarized in http://lists.w3.org/Archives/Public/www-style/2008May/0094.html some ideas (from Brad Kemper and others) for extending 'box-shadow' (and 'text-shadow'?):

2) Instead of the box casting a shadow on everything else, the shadow can also be "inverted": as if the box is a hole and the surrounding plane casts a shadow that is visible in this hole. (This can be simulated with backgrounds or border images, at the cost of a little more bandwidth.)

An image http://www.doublefishstudios.com/~dai/boxes.png shows the intended effects. See also http://bradclicks.com/cssplay/Shadows.html for more images.
