<BartvanLeeuwen> PhilA, nope voip

<JoaoPauloAlmeida> I will be on a listen-only mode today, because I am in a shared room. So, I will be muted and intervene on IRC when necessary

<BartvanLeeuwen> PhilA, zakim@voip.w3.org simply does not allow to connect

<JoaoPauloAlmeida> :-)

<JoaoPauloAlmeida> I can type

<PhilA> scribe: PhilA

HadleyBeeman: Reminder to book for TPAC. Our f2f meeting is Thursday and Friday

<Yaso> I’ll be there

<EricKauz> Probably yes

PhilA: See announcement of 20th anniversary stuff at http://www.w3.org/blog/news/archives/3898

<JoaoPauloAlmeida> will depend on the funding

<ericstephan> I am planning

<JoaoPauloAlmeida> hopefully

Phila: I'll be there all week (plane booked and everything)

<laufer> I will depend on funding too

<markharrison> not sure yet

<Ig_Bittencourt> I will probably be there.

<Makx_Dekkers> I checked flights and hotel rates: I will not be able to come to TPAC

<Ig_Bittencourt> Hi, HadleyBeeman. :)

Actions

<Ig_Bittencourt> I will confirm later.

<HadleyBeeman> action-32?

<trackbot> http://www.w3.org/2013/dwbp/track/actions/45

ericstephan: I looked at the UCR and there are some references to types of closed data that I thought were good, but I need to follow up... Sumit, do you have time to work on these?

SumitPurohit: Yep.

ericstephan: OK, so we'll put a wiki page together showing other examples of closed data that may not be in the UCR

<scribe> ACTION: ericstephan to work with SumitPurohit to put a wiki page together showing other examples of closed data that may not be in the UCR [recorded in http://www.w3.org/2014/06/20-dwbp-minutes.html#action01]

<trackbot> Created ACTION-51 - Work with sumitpurohit to put a wiki page together showing other examples of closed data that may not be in the ucr [on Eric Stephan - due 2014-06-27].

<trackbot> Closed action-45.

<Yaso> Ohhhn.

<Yaso> :/

<Yaso> now you can hear me?

<Yaso> Well, I've been traveling during this week, so can not finish. But I suggest that the action remains open until next week.

<markharrison> No we can't - sorry!

<ericstephan> +q

<Yaso> Yes I can!

ericstephan: Dunno if Yaso can hear me, but I;m extremely interested in teh IoT work
... we work a lot with instrumentation in sci experiments

<Yaso> Eric, you can help me on that?

ericstephan: Glad to help Use cases

<Yaso> It’s great if you can

PhilA: http://www.w3.org/2014/02/wot/agenda.html

<HadleyBeeman> phila: IoT is relevant at the moment: Next week, I'll get to meet EricKauz in Berlin, at the Web of Things.

<deirdrelee> anyone at #iotweek in London this week?

<markharrison> +q to say that there might be some use cases in the former W3C Semantic Sensor Network activity. EricKauz and I have some background on IoT through the GS1 / Auto-ID Labs activities and the EPC Network architecture

<HadleyBeeman> … It's the Web of Services, built on the Web of Data. I'll be looking at how this WG and others can support services online.

<HadleyBeeman> … May be new use cases for us from that meeting.

<ericstephan> The RFORE use case I provided does cover this to some extent PhilA

<HadleyBeeman> … Web of Things work is in a different department at W3C than ours. So I'm not on those calls.

<ericstephan> I just didn't bring out any details yet...

<deirdrelee> url to iotweek in london http://www.iot-week.eu/ I know some Insight researchers are over there

<HadleyBeeman> … IoT also touches the Geospatial work I've been doing this week: semantic sensors, sensor networks, etc.

<Zakim> markharrison, you wanted to say that there might be some use cases in the former W3C Semantic Sensor Network activity. EricKauz and I have some background on IoT through the GS1 /

markharrison: There might be some use cases from IoT from former SSN activity

Geo charter http://www.w3.org/2014/05/geo-charter

<ericstephan> that would be interesting markharrison

<Yaso> I’m gonna be in Berlin for the IoT W3C Workshop also. I’ve been reading a lot and trying to “connect the points” between inovation and data… the discussions around data preservation, best protocols, Semantic Web, all this issues are adressed to data usage. People are building new protocols to exchange data in litle packages (on mobile), for example.

<Yaso> I can talk :-/

<Yaso> ops

<Yaso> can’t

PhilA: We should have had a f2f meeting in Berlin!

<Yaso> hahaha

<Yaso> It’s because the summer, I think, Phil

<atemezi> yeah, it could have been good idea having a f2f in Berlin :)

MTCarrasco: In our own institutions, some of our URIs are kilometres long and we need to sort that.
... on preservation, we need to think about what sensor data needs to be stored
... not every bit of data needs to be kept but what to keep. These should be addressed early in the IoT

<markharrison> +q to suggest that Keio University researchers may have useful contributions on geo-charter, in connection with their efforts on disaster relief co-ordination (demand vs supply) in Japan using Linked Open Data

<Zakim> markharrison, you wanted to suggest that Keio University researchers may have useful contributions on geo-charter, in connection with their efforts on disaster relief co-ordination

<HadleyBeeman> action-47?

<trackbot> action-47 -- Bernadette Farias Loscio to Discuss with eric data usage meaning for the use case requirements, and for the vocabulary and finding consensus in the group -- due 2014-06-20 -- OPEN

<trackbot> http://www.w3.org/2013/dwbp/track/actions/47

markharrison: on the geo charter http://www.w3.org/2014/05/geo-charter, some have been using LOD to work with Geo WG. GS1 also has conections via Keio

HadleyBeeman: Do you know about this ericstephan?

ericstephan: Yes. This past week I've been attending a workshop in japan (remotely) which is a high energy physics event... my way of saying why I haven't done this. But Bernadette did send an e-mail asking for feedback so I encourage people to do that
... she and I hope to meet on Tuesday
... outr combined vocab call will be this Thursday

<markharrison> Note also that some GS1 staff are working closely with the Red Cross on use of data to help with relief efforts - EricKauz or I can find those connections too in case they can contribute use cases for geo-charter

HadleyBeeman: I think there'll be something on use cases in the vocab call on Thursday

<HadleyBeeman> action-48?

<trackbot> action-48 -- Newton Calegari to Will talk with other members to improve this versioning doc. in the next week i'll meet with flavio to discuss about it -- due 2014-06-20 -- OPEN

<trackbot> http://www.w3.org/2013/dwbp/track/actions/48

<Yaso> Today is holliday in Brazil

<Yaso> And there’s the WorldCup…

<HadleyBeeman> action-49?

<trackbot> action-49 -- Newton Calegari to Follow the DAURI doc proposed by tomas (bp - uri doc) -- due 2014-06-20 -- OPEN

<trackbot> http://www.w3.org/2013/dwbp/track/actions/49

MTCarrasco: I'm working on that document

<HadleyBeeman> action-50?

<trackbot> action-50 -- Bernadette Farias Loscio to Organise a discussion by email on https://www.w3.org/2013/dwbp/wiki/best_practices_guidelines#general_guidelines -- due 2014-06-20 -- OPEN

<trackbot> http://www.w3.org/2013/dwbp/track/actions/50

MTCarrasco: I believe sometime this week there will be something to show

<ericstephan> +q

HadleyBeeman: Happy to discuss it or leave it until Bernadette is here

ericstephan: That action links to the feedback request that Bernadette made

<ericstephan> do we need an action item for new action items?

Steve's Thoughts on the process

HadleyBeeman: We have ways to check with the community, find evidence that suggestions are being used and validated
... but we don't have a way to combine each doc and for them to inform each other
... so his suggestion ... was that software development methodologies might be useful
... think in terms of an agile sprint. Discovery (UCR) and then we create a minimum viable product (initial draft)
... and we iterate
... he was talking about that makes it easier to think of other use cases and it's easier to add in new ones
... have them feed into new parts of the doc
... does this help editors?

BartvanLeeuwen: as one of the editors, this might be helpful, as it's not clear where to start
... but the problem I see is that if you want the docs reviewed then you need the reviewers to keep pace
... getting reviews can be hard - finding enough people who are motivated

HadleyBeeman: Would it be easier if reviewers understood where the docs were in the process

<ericstephan> +q

<Yaso> tks

<Yaso> just a suggestion, but, maybe using git can help us with the reviews

<Yaso> since only people with w3c login can change the wiki

<Yaso> using git we can have review and suggestions irt

HadleyBeeman: I've been assuming that editing on the wiki is easier than github. But for her, GitHub is easier...

<Yaso> in real tme

<Yaso> time

<Yaso> PhilA :-)

HadleyBeeman: using GitHub makes it easier for outsiders to make contributions
... But we can probably find ways to make this work

ericstephan: It's an interesting idea. Is this of itself a DWBP use case. Is this a dog food opportunity
... we have GitHub and we've been using it in the CSVW

<Ig_Bittencourt> +1 to the proposal of an agile approach by using software methodologies and the definition of sprints.

ericstephan: it has its own issue tracker etc

<Yaso> +1

ericstephan: We could look for ways to exercise some of the things we talk about

BartvanLeeuwen: I'm not sure what the W3C regs are on this, but if you take issues on GitHub, how do we track them

<HadleyBeeman> re: archiving comments: see example: https://www.w3.org/2011/gld/wiki/DCAT_Comments

<ericstephan> CSVW is using the issue and action tracker

<Yaso> tks! just a question to PhilA: do we have to obey these rules? http://www.ietf.org/rfc/rfc2119.txt

<ericstephan> +q

<Yaso> ok

<Yaso> ok! Thank you

<HadleyBeeman> https://www.w3.org/2011/gld/wiki/DCAT_Comments

HadleyBeeman: `I wanted to answer Bart's comment
... We need to show who commented, what they said and that we sorted it with them

<ericstephan> -q

HadleyBeeman: we have to demonstrate that they got our reply and that they're happy with it
... so if we used GitHub then we'd need to link to those
... We need to be able to present this content somewhere

BartvanLeeuwen: Sounds good to me

HadleyBeeman: I feel like we're opening the topic today but we may not resolve it today
... if all of you are comfortable with it, I'd like to talk about it again next week

<ericstephan> sounds like a provenance use case

HadleyBeeman: do what you'd like but please share with us what you're doing

ericstephan: If you have some comments in GH, if you're using Issue Tracker... I see a graph in my mind. I want to see everything associated, the comments, the changes etc
... To me it's just a reakl world example of document transclusion and how you would piece it together for someone to understand

HadleyBeeman: +1

<BartvanLeeuwen> +1 for provanance

<BartvanLeeuwen> http://www.w3.org/2013/meeting/dwbp/2014-06-12

BartvanLeeuwen: I had a quick look at the products... in the vocab group meeting, we said we'd keep issues on main maling list

<scribe> ACTION: phil to update tracker products [recorded in http://www.w3.org/2014/06/20-dwbp-minutes.html#action02]

<trackbot> Created ACTION-52 - Update tracker products [on Phil Archer - due 2014-06-27].

<Yaso> I can scribe, Phil

<Yaso> I can’t talk

<scribe> scribe: Yaso

no problem

<ericstephan> +q

Ericstephan: I changed emails with Steve this week, about the white house,

… I think we have an opportunity. Steve mentioned standard organizations that we can work with

… we can see if there’s any intersections with our work

PhilA: one of the problems that we have is that w3c doesn’t have staff in Washington

…so.. Bernadette Hyland can help Steve to get there

…there’s a new guy on NIH

ericstephan: that’s a very influential organization

PhilA: anything else?

… I’m gonna have to regrets the next week

<BartvanLeeuwen> thx phill

<laufer> bye all, nice weekend

<SumitPurohit> Thanks

RSSagent: make minutes

<SumitPurohit> -SumitPurohit

<markharrison> Bye!

<PhilA> trackbot end meeting
