- Description:
Shepherd: John Kemp Rank: Background External dependency: State of HTML5 WG's work on 'ping' attributes. As of 3 March 09, the HTML group's work on this is believed to be moribund. Rank to be raised if 'ping' looks like reviving. Tentative Conclusions: We have the finding whenToUseGet. The TAG believes there are issues with the use of HTTP GET for the proposed HTML 5 ping attribute (and there are other issues with ping as well.) We also note that there is question as to whether Mozilla will deploy ping. See comments from Paul Prescod to Forms WG "I know you've recently been asked about PUT. During that discussion it arose that HTTP GET is deprecated in the specification. Does this mean that XForms would be incompatible with an application like Google that uses a form to generate a GET URL?" Reopened whenToUseGet-7 to consider the use of 'ping' atttributes: see HTML-WG ISSUE-1 http://www.w3.org/html/wg/tracker/issues/1 http://www.w3.org/2007/11/29-tagmem-minutes#item12 Proposed HTML ping attribute 15 Jan 2008 http://lists.w3.org/Archives/Public/www-tag/2008Jan/0035.html
