WCAG 3.0 Working Draft Update Video, Nov 2020

Analysis

Goals/Objectives/Purpose

Viewers:

Also:

  • Make clear that WCAG 3 has a different name than WCAG 2.
  • People don’t freak out that the draft is so drafty and incomplete.

Note: Be careful to not dis WCAG 2, e.g., avoid saying 3 will be “better” than 2. Yet can say things like “more flexible conformance model”, “cover more needs to people with disabilities”.

  • OPEN: What lifespan do we want for this video? SLH’s first inclination is to make it applicable beyond FPWD. Do we want to try for it being applicable through complete WD? That would mean not saying anything that we expect will change. Maybe have it in segments, so part can easily be cut out if it gets changed? e.g., the specifics of the FPWD are in a separate segment.

Duration

  • 15 minutes (as defined by conference)
  • OPEN: Do we want a shorter version for the WAI website?

Target Audience

  • Anyone involved in web development (designers, developers, project managers), policy makers (on the viability of the conformance model), people with disabilities
  • Especially testers to comment on the conformance model

SLH's Notes for Template

  • Goals/Objectives/Purpose — a few bullet points on why you’re doing the video and what you want to get out of it
  • Make it accessible. See Making Audio and Video Media Accessible, particularly Audio Content and Video Content.
  • Lifespan — How do you want the video to apply over time? For example, if you include specific information about a Working Draft, then the video might get out-of-date sooner. Yet if you don’t, then it might not address current issues well enough.

Example video analysis to script+visuals+ description

For example, here is some of the material that EOWG developed in the process of creating the "Perspectives Videos"

Those were more formal, with actual actors and budget -- so more detailed that needed for some types of videos.
