Developer Guidance on Accessible and Inclusive Design Principles

Development of authoritative and reference guidance on accessible and inclusive design principles to support the mainstream production of inclusive components and services.

Definitive guide on interrelationships between accessibility and inclusion

Development of a definitive guide on the interrelationships between accessibility and inclusion to provide authoritative guidance for further research and development efforts and for the community at large. This W3C/WAI resource will be authored by WAI-DEV staff through the WAI Education and Outreach Working Group (EOWG). It will be developed through the iterative W3C consensus process with the involvement of researchers, experts, and other stakeholders, and with opportunities for review, discussion, and input by members of the public.

Deliverable: Accessibility, Usability, and Inclusion: Related Aspects of a Web for All

Guiding materials with considerations for accessible and inclusive design

Reference article and accompanying guidance with considerations for accessibility and inclusion throughout the design process. These Web Platform Docs materials will be authored by WAI-DEV staff in coordination with peer W3C staff responsible for the development of Web Platform Docs, to ensure the alignment and integration within Web Platform Docs. The materials will be developed in consultation with relevant W3C Working Groups.

Deliverable: Input into HTML5 courses from W3C

Value Demonstration and Good Practice in Accessible and Inclusive Design

Demonstrating the social and economic value and good practice in accessible and inclusive design principles to highlight the increased market potential of inclusive components and services.

Ensemble of examples showcasing universal benefits of inclusive design

Development of an illustrative coherent collection of examples to showcase the impact and benefit of inclusive design for everyone. This W3C/WAI resource will be authored by WAI-DEV staff through the WAI Education and Outreach Working Group (EOWG). It will be developed through the iterative W3C consensus process with periodic opportunities for review, discussion, and input by members of the public.

Deliverable: Web Accessibility Perspectives: Explore the Impact and Benefits for Everyone

Video demonstrations of the value and good practice in inclusive design

Development of a series of short videos that demonstrate the impact, benefits, and good practice in accessible and inclusive design. The development of these short videos will be led and managed by WAI-DEV staff with support from a professional video production service. The videos will be developed in consultation of relevant W3C Working Groups such as EOWG to increase the educational value of the videos and with WCAG WG, AUWG, and UAWG to ensure accurate interpretation of the W3C/WAI Guidelines.

Deliverable: Web Accessibility Perspectives: Explore the Impact and Benefits for Everyone

Development of an open collaborative gallery on Web Platform Docs of accessible widgets, templates, and other components. The gallery will be established by WAI-DEV staff in coordination with peer W3C staff responsible for the Web Platform Docs and in consultation with relevant W3C Working Groups, in particular with the WAI Authoring Tool Accessibility Guidelines Working Group (AUWG) where this work was initially hosted. It will be populated and maintained with contributions from individuals and organisations that are recruited by WAI-DEV staff and with further review, discussion, and contribution by the public.

Enhanced Policy and Implementation Guidance for Web Accessibility

Development of enhanced policy strategies that support the adoption and implementation of accessibility, to drive the production of inclusive components and services.

Dynamic guide for planning and managing policies on web accessibility

Development of a dynamic task-based guide that supports business-oriented implementation planning in a variety of contexts. This W3C/WAI resource will be developed and authored by WAI-DEV staff through the WAI Education and Outreach Working Group (EOWG). It will be developed through the iterative W3C consensus process with the involvement of researchers, experts, and other stakeholders, and with opportunities for review, discussion, and input by members of the public.

Deliverable: Planning and Managing Web Accessibility

Accessibility quick considerations throughout the web design process

Development of a step-by-step guide with considerations for designers, coders, project managers, and others involved throughout the design process to get started quickly with web accessibility. This W3C/WAI resource will be authored by WAI-DEV staff through the WAI Education and Outreach Working Group (EOWG). It will be developed through the iterative W3C consensus process with the involvement of researchers, experts, and other stakeholders, and with opportunities for review, discussion, and input by members of the public.

Deliverable: Tips for Getting Started with Web Accessibility

Interactive guide supporting the implementation of WCAG 2.0 in practice

Development of an interactive role-based guide that can be dynamically customised to show the requested portions of WCAG 2.0 Success Criteria, Techniques, and supporting resources. This W3C/WAI resource will be developed and authored by WAI-DEV staff through WAI Web Content Accessibility Guidelines Working Group (WCAG WG) in coordination with WAI Education and Outreach Working Group (EOWG). It will be developed through the iterative W3C consensus process with the involvement of researchers, experts, and other stakeholders, and with opportunities for review, discussion, and input by members of the public.
