Minutes Review

<kaz> Aug-27

Any objections to publishing the minutes?

Koster: No objections, minutes approved.

Quick Items

Profile publication

Kaz: Philippe can't make a call until after 16th September to discuss Profiles publication

Ben: Can't really wait until the 16th, if Group Note not possible may need to find another path. E.g. Discontinued Draft or Candidate Recommendation. Will discuss further in the Profiles call.

Kaz: Another option is an updated Working Draft

TPAC 2025 Planning

Koster: Please add yourself to the wiki for the Plugfest

Koster: We can do the breakout in the same room as the Plugfest, which is good news.

Kaz: The events team mentioned preference to have session in last slot on the GitHub issue. Issue 7. Should be a note.

w3c/tpac2025-breakouts#7

Koster: 17:30-18:30 for Plugfest breakout

Koster: (on Wednesday)

Holidays & Upcoming Events

<kaz> Holidays and Upcoming Events

McCool unavailable after end of August, Sebastian away for another two weeks. TD call today cancelled but second slot tomorrow going ahead.

Publication Schedule

Ege: I sent an email. We need to make some resolutions today and merge pull requests.

<Ege> Ege's message on publication resolution (Member-only)

Ege: TD task force currently responsible for three documents. TD, binding templates, registry. We need to merge some pull requests and make resolutions. If it's fine to do so we should merge the pull requests and agree to publish Editor's Draft as the publication.

WoT Binding Registry Publication

Ege talks through the WoT Binding Registry document at https://w3c.github.io/wot-binding-registry/

Ege: Registry Definition and Registry

Ege: Ask if everyone fine with making a transition request?

<kaz> Transitions repo for Transition Request

Kaz: To confirm you asking about transition request for (1) FPWD for WoT Thing Description 2.0 and (2) First publication of a Draft Registry for WoT Binding Registry

Ege: I will propose a resolution

<Ege> https://w3c.github.io/wot-binding-registry/

<mjk> Proposal: The working group approves the transition request for publication of the First Draft Binding Registry document

<Ege> Proposal: The working group approves the transition request for publication of the First Draft Binding Registry document, taking the Editor's Draft at https://w3c.github.io/wot-binding-registry/ as the basis

Ege: Any objections?

RESOLUTION: The working group approves the transition request for publication of the First Draft Binding Registry document, taking the Editor's Draft at https://w3c.github.io/wot-binding-registry/ as the basis

WoT Binding Templates Publication

Ege: We need to agree on some wording

<kaz> Catalan Gap Analysis

Kaz: I got nice advice about possible examples

Kaz: Shows example note with a red frame saying that a document has been retired.

Ege: In Status of Document you can see where you should be going. Any objections to content of retired Wot Binding Templates document?

Kaz: Could put this kind of discussion inside the red framed box.

Kaz: Can make a resolution with minor condition of adding this note.

<Ege> Proposal: The working group approves the publication request of the Group Note of the WoT Binding Tempaltes document, taking the Editor's Draft at https://pr-preview.s3.amazonaws.com/w3c/wot-binding-templates/pull/434.html and the addition of a red box as seen in https://www.w3.org/TR/latn-ca-gap/

RESOLUTION: The working group approves the publication request of the Group Note of the WoT Binding Tempaltes document, taking the Editor's Draft at https://pr-preview.s3.amazonaws.com/w3c/wot-binding-templates/pull/434.html and the addition of a red box as seen in https://www.w3.org/TR/latn-ca-gap/

WoT Thing Description 2.0 Publication

Ege: Has a dependency on a PR in the wot-resources repo regarding the new context URL

Ege: Proposing that /ns/wot-next/* always refers to the next version w3c/wot-resources#25

Ege: Has positive reviews from Cris and Mahda

Kaz: This namespace is for draft purposes, and we'll use another namespace lie "wot20" for the final Recommendation. Right?

Ben: What is the reason for creating a new namespace?

Ege: So we don't need to manage each new URL. Keep it under one namespace we manage.

Kaz: If we find a problem later we can change.

Ege: Easier to change than the previous approach

Ege: See no objections, will merge.

Ege: PR github.com/w3c/wot-thing-description/pull/2123 removes HTTP Binding from Thing Description specification

Ege: Now need add htv: context if you want to use it since it is not included by default

Ben: Presumably if not overriding defaults don't need to add context

Ege: Correct

Ben: Is there a corresponding PR to add this content to the new binding document?

Ege: Yes

<Ege> w3c/wot-binding-templates#435

Ege: Don't hear any objections

PR 2128 w3c/wot-thing-description#2128

Ege: Adds new temporary context URLs as discussed in the wot-resources repo. There is a merge conflict but will ask if it is fine otherwise.

Ege: PR w3c/wot-thing-description#2130 Small change to change occurrences of Binding Registry

Ege: Any objections?

Ege: Will merge.

<Ege> proposal: The working group approves the transition request for publication of the First Public Working Draft document of the WoT Thing Description 2.0, taking the Editor's Draft at https://w3c.github.io/wot-thing-description/# as the basis plus merging the Pull Request at https://github.com/w3c/wot-thing-description/pull/2128, which is agreed to merged.

Ege: Any objections?

Kaz: OK with the resolution itself, but the resolution is too long for IRC logging!

Ege shortens the proposal

Kaz: Technically the resolution is that the Working Group would like to issue a transition request

RESOLUTION: The working group would like to issue the transition request for publication of the FPWD document of the WoT Thing Description 2.0, taking the ED at https://w3c.github.io/wot-thing-description/# as the basis and merging the already-agreed PR at w3c/wot-thing-description#2128

AOB

Koster: Any other business?

Kaz: We should make a decision about how long we should request for the extension of W3C WoT Working Group charter. Basic assumption is 3 months, but let's talk about that next week.

Koster: No action needed today, but let's add a topic for next week

<kaz> [adjourned]
