Meeting minutes

Logistics

Ege: we won't have the call tomorrow
… topics for today: Schedule, Binding Section of TD, Registry Issues (Ege, Daniel, Cris), Charter Inputs (if time left)

Minutes

July-23

Ege: (goes through the minutes)
… the discussion with the Agents CG guys was interesting

(minutes approved)

July-24

Ege: (goes through the minutes)

(also approved)

Schedule

Ege: should look at the publication schedule
… it's a Charter-driven schedule
… The meetings on July 31st, August 13 and 14 are cancelled. The rest of the meetings will be held.

<EgeKorkan> w3c/wot-thing-description#1939

Ege: the policy about "Editors and Authors" to be discussed during the main call

WG schedule

Ege: we'd publish an updated draft as FPWD before the end of the current Charter

specifically, TD schedule

Ege: by August 28, would freeze the draft and create a static HTML for publication
… any issues or concerns?

(none)

TD Issue 2112 - TD 2.0 FPWD Goals

Ege: (goes through the bullet points in the Issue)
… smaller editorial changes can be handled in parallel

Registry Issue 12 - First Draft Registry Plan

Ege: the content has been copied from MD to HTML
… there is not so much we can do for the registry itself at the moment
… one open discussion is
… how to submit the existing bindings?

Kaz: just to make sure, you mean our own defined bindings, e.g., HTTP and CoAP?

Ege: yeah
… (shows the CoAP Binding as an example)

Kaz: will have a 1:1 meeting with Philippe on Monday
… and will talk about this there

Binding Section of the TD Spec

TD Spec Editor's Draft - 8. Binding Templates

Ege: (shows section 8 from TD spec)
… the old abstract is not really correct any more

TD PR 2118 - Binding Intro Reorganization

Daniel: not directly related to PR 2118 but was wondering about the protocol binding table

4.1.3 Existing Protocol Binding Templates

<Zakim> dape, you wanted to https://w3c.github.io/wot-binding-templates/#protocol-bindings-table

Kaz: we need to think about this kind of information (e.g., binding template example table) within the TD spec sections other than section 8. right?

Daniel: don't need to resolve this kind of issue today, though

Kaz: right
… let's add another bullet point to the Issue 2112

Jan: Will the protocol binding documents continue to live in this repository?

Ege: yes
… on the other hand, we need to think about how to deal with the information (e.g., the table on existing Bindings) within the Binding Templates document

Kaz: think there are 2 points here
… regarding the procedure about how to deal with the old Binding Templates document, I'll talk with PLH
… and regarding the content of the existing Binding table, we should import that as well with some appropriate text to the TD 2.0 spec

Ege: yeah
… (then goes back to the original discussion about PR 2118)

TD PR 2118 - Binding Intro Reorganization

Ege: (goes through the diff)

changes

specifically the changes around index.template.html

Ege: (shows the important points)

<EgeKorkan> https://pr-preview.s3.amazonaws.com/w3c/wot-thing-description/pull/2118.html

Ege: (shows the preview above)

specifically, "7.2 Adding Bindings" and so on

8. Bindings as well

Daniel: regarding the ToC, the title of section 8.1.3 should be fixed as "Protocol Bindings and Payload"

Ege: ah, yes
… (fixes that within the PR)
… also I've started to work on individual Bindings

<EgeKorkan> binding templates PR 432 - Adapting to Registry and Binding Word Usage

WG Charter

Ege: the Charter itself is an issue for the whole WoT WG
… but the TD TF still can give input
… which topics to be continued and which to be changed
… e.g., new specifications needed
… would like to hear from you

current WoT WG Charter

Ege: there is some stuff within our planning document
… high-level descriptions within the Charter don't need to be changed
… maybe one of the points we need to be clear is...
… Binding Document as a Registry
… (shows the section "6.1 Entry format")

6.1 Entry format

Jan: Are the features we are planning to work on during the next charter already going to justify a TD version 3.0 or is it rather going to be version 2.1??

Ege: still to be done
… we can't finalize the TD 2.0 spec as REC by the end of the current Charter
… we originally wanted to work on TD 2.0 in parallel with TD 1.1
… but TD 1.1 took longer and we had to use the whole time for that
… anyway, let's think about what to do for the next Charter period
… any other business for today?
