Minutes

Koster: any updates or corrections?
McCool: no updates, but want to mention have updates for both schedule and UCR doc that we can discuss later.
Koster: no updates, no objections, minutes approved
Quick items
Discovery user stories
<kaz> Discovery user stories on wot-usecases repo
McCool: would like to do a call for resolution for PR359 for next week
Kaz: we should clarify which PR is for WG's Discovery work and which PR is for IG's UCR document work
McCool: the main PR for WG's Discovery work is PR 359
Kaz: and you'd propose we make a resolution for that next week. right?
McCool: yes
McCool: other PRs are things the UCR TF itself can do, would like a resolution fopr 359 by the group since it relates to Discovery TF work.
Notices
TPAC 2025 prep
<kaz> TPAC announcement (Member-only)
Koster: TPAC2025; email, see link in agenda
… we have a github repo to start getting organized
Koster: asking people to add availability, preferences, and topics to wiki
Ege: survey in WoT CG, some people indicated an interest to meet
… asked for one session for WoT CG during TPAC
Kaz: as starting point, however, should talk about IG and WG
… Sebastian has put several potential topics; also need to decide how long overall what days
… have dedicated discussion on several topics.
McCool: plugfest will be the weekend before TPAC, right?
Kaz: yes, talking with event team about use of hotel venue
… to be strict, plugfest is part of TPAC, but what we need to respond to the GitHub Issue is about the meeting dates..
McCool: also note the plugfest is an IG activity
Koster: is a list of topics already posted...
Kaz: priority for today though is the dates, since the event team needs that information by the 20th
Koster: let's do a resolution...
<kaz> proposal: WoT WG/IG would like to have the TPAC meeting on Thursday and Friday as an all-day event during TPAC
RESOLUTION: WoT WG/IG would like to have the TPAC meeting on Thursday and Friday as an all-day event during TPAC
David: regarding joint meetings, conflict between joint meeting and being in that group meeting; for example, DID. We should also capture conflicts/overlaps to be avoided.
Kaz: yes, should capture overlaps, for joint meetings can discuss who goes where
Koster: add a section for "conflicts" under joint meetings
McCool: sounds we have at least DID as a conflict
David: and also VC, if they have a meeting
Koster: captured
Koster: anything else? plugfest?
<kaz> WoT TPAC 2025 wiki including the F2F meeting and the Plugfest
Kaz: only short-term issue is talking with the event team about the venue, which I am doing
Koster: should at least capture the proposed dates for the plugfest in the wiki
Kaz: and also the breakout
Koster: Nov 8 to 10 for prep; Nov 8 to 11 for plugfest, 12 for presentations (breakout) - captured as proposal in wiki
<kaz> Proposed Dates for Plugfest
Koster: also some demo preparation, this will be related to the plugfest
Ege: question, will we support remote participants or not?
<Zakim> EgeKorkan, you wanted to comment on whether the
Koster: not sure whether we will, but seems like there are some people interested
Kaz: in earlier call started discussing that, probably will via VPN
… Ege, you were asking CG?
Ege: asked, nobody said yes about in-person
Koster: plugfest call today?
Kaz: too short notice, should announce it, maybe have it in two weeks, also need to check the Profile TF schedule
Other
Koster: publication moratorium
<kaz> Publication moratorium announcement (Member-only)
McCool: may affect UCR, when does it start?
Koster: Nov 6 is last publication date
… also a pause in late August
Rechartering/Charter Extension
Koster: current WG charter only goes until Oct 2025
… short extension relatively easy, 3-6 mo, longer than that needs a new charter
<kaz> WoT WG Charter expiring on Oct 2
McCool: current charter ends before TPAC, I think we need at least a 3mo extension so it covers TPAC; then can discuss a new charter then.
Koster: also, will an extension be enough to complete the work we have, and/or do we need to edit the charter?
Ege: we need an extension even just to plan the new charter
… but we don't have to commit to finish everything in the current charter necessarily
Kaz: that was the TD TF resolution also; have been talking with PLH, agrees
… need to talk about publication schedule first, also
… as team contact, I doubt we can finalize everything by end of Sept
… my suggestion is 3mo extension for the rechartering procedure itself
… but we could perhaps publish somethings, like updated TD draft. Will look better when we ask for a recharter
<kaz> TD-TF's resolution
Daniel: would like to restate what we have seen in the past; new charter is a lot of work, need to reach out to people, get votes, etc.
… new charter does mean a lot of work on our side
Koster: even if the changes to the charter are minor, still a lot of work, but hopefully we can get it done quickly.
Kaz: is a necessary procedure in the end.
Ege: less effort this time than the last charter
… a lot of reorganization last time, I think this time we have less reorg, we just want to continue
… are discussing this in the TD, please join if you want to discuss; need to decide scope of remaining work in this charter and work to be deferred to a new charter
Kaz: agree with Ege; reiterate that we publish something important before the expiry of the current charter.
Koster: scope it down, but it should be meaningful
Schedule
<kaz> proposed IG Schedule
<kaz> Proposed WG Schedule
McCool: split IG and WG, other than UCR have not made any other changes
McCool: split it so it's clear what PRs modify what
Kaz: suggest merging
… although another line for the Discovery work on the WG Schdule would be good
Kaz: ok, will merge
AOB
Koster: out of time, anything else?
Kaz: just ask TD task force to look at the WG schedule
Ege: it is on the agenda
Koster: no other business, adjourn
