Meeting minutes

Guests, New Members, and Invited Experts

Sebastian: New member, Luca Barbato from Luminem
… warm welcome

<cris_> welcome Luca! :) :)

Luca: Luminem is involved in European project, Horizon 2020

<Ege> https://www.sifis-home.eu/

<luca_barbato> sifis-home.eu

Luca: Sifis main idea: as much as you can trust the device you can trust the user
… we use self-describing concept from TD
… Luminem implements WoT in Rust
… e.g., start oven at 3am, .. most likely a problem or at least exceptional
… would like to provide back feedback we collected over time

Quick updates

Next Use Cases call

Sebastian: Feb 14 ?

McCool: Yes, call took place

<kaz> Feb-7 Use Cases minutes

McCool: need to talk whether next week there will be a use-case call
… suggest to cancel and focus on charter discussions

Lagally: alternative: use use-cases slot for policy ...

McCool: okay.. let's discuss it in this slot
… should cancel other calls.. besides Security

Lagally: we could/should have profile call ... unless there is a conflict

McCool: Suggest to cancel everything expect Security and Profile
… please say if there is a VERY good reason

Ege: I would prefer to have binding call
… 1st or 2nd hour.. depends on today's discussion

Kaz: Agree with cancelling ... and concentrate on charter discussions
… w.r.t. use-case, I think this is important for charter discussions
… no matter in which slot it takes place

McCool: we should organize the logistics

Kaz: w.r.t. policy, not sure about use-case specific policy. I think it should be a group-wide discussion.

Marketing

<Ege> w3c/wot-marketing#357

Sebastian: Special marketing meeting Feb 28
… about the policy and collaboration with CGs

New Wiki for Profile TF

WoT Profile wiki

Lagally: at the moment is mostly a copy of Arch wiki
… we are going to clean that up
… separate wikis between Arch and Profile make more sense

McCool: Need to update also webpage etc

Use Case Requirements

Sebastian: There is a template and geolocation PR

wot-usecases PR 215 - Update requirements-template.md

wot-usecases PR 214 - Create geolocation-requirements.md

McCool: geolocation seems good content already
… plan to clean-up PR next week
… please provide comments on PR

Kaz: Geolocation is very important information for various use cases
… should think about it as additional requirement

McCool: need to decide which requirements we target in next charter
… in some cases geolocation is very important.. for other use-cases it is nice to have

Lagally: That's why we need requirement document

McCool: we need to do some analysis to do this properly

Kaz: Agree with MMC
… compatibility, grouping etc
… starting with concrete use cases

meeting between Sebastian and PLH

Sebastian: talked with PLH

Sebastian: OPC binding makes progress
… asked for opinion from W3C w.r.t MOCA
… PLH will check with Ralph
… PLH will get back to use about MOCA
… shared that OPC is open to include policy statements
… we need concrete request

Lagally: collaboration issue might cause an IPR issue

Sebastian: W3C might need to check

Lagally: e.g., OPC binding and whether it is free

Sebastian: MOCA states that binding is license free etc

Lagally: Good to know

Kaz: That's why we as the whole WoT WG need to clarify our expectation
… as group note.. or as REC track, or what ever

Sebastian: we plan to discuss related topic on how to structure the WoT Binding Templates spec in TD/binding call
… hence, please join this meeting

McCool: discussion is exactly about this policy
… at the moment for bindings we use notes
… not sure if this is the right way forward

Planning

WoT Workshop in 2024?

Sebastian: We are thinking about an event in 2024, similar to the one in Munich
… Siemens plans to sponsor that
… more details should come in March
… e.g., context of digital twin, edge computing, ..
… please let us know your ideas/input

Kaz: should first concentrate on spec work and charter discussion
… need ideas/topics

Sebastian: Correct, we are just loud thinking
… we just need 1 year in advance to properly organize it

McCool: 2 year charter.. maybe we should look at 2025
… traveling might be still cumbersome

Sebastian: Internal meetings within Siemens in March

McCool: actually, it's about 2024, that might be ok

Testfest

Sebastian: Another Testfest during current (extended) charter? March?

McCool: developer meeting planned for March
… too many meeting might conflict
… for Profile we need testing ...
… maybe just have short test-calls with Profile focus

Developer Meeting

Dev Meeting

Lagally: March seems to be a good time-slot for Profile testing

McCool: March seems to much happening

Lagally: Does it make sense to combine these meetings?

McCool: TestFest for existing implementors

McCool: Developer for new people
… different audience

McCool: Okay, let have this discussion in testing call

Sebastian: +1

Publications progress check

Sebastian: Skip due to time constraints today

WG Charter

<sebastian> new GitHub repo for the draft WG Charter

McCool: Content moved.. comments could not be moved
… another PR exists for logistics
… plan to archive old wiki agendas

<sebastian> provide your comments on the agenda here: w3c/wot-charter-drafts#12

McCool: I plan to merge these PRs soon to avoid conflicts
… can update the content later

Kaz: There are already many conflicts on the old wot repo
… but I 've already resolved all those conflicts on the new wot-charter-drafts repo.

McCool: Okay.. then let's agree to merge soon

McCool: We need to figure out time/date for charter meeting

Doodle for the 2nd WG Charter meeting

Cristiano: I am on vacation these days.. please go ahead

McCool: 2 hours a day is max

McCool: We need to pick some slots soon
… first 2 slots on Monday (11:00-13:00 UTC)
… replace main/testing call on Wednesday (13:00-15:00 UTC)
… on Tuesday use marketing/use-case slots (12:00-14:00 UTC)

Lagally: Suggest Mon, Tue and Thursday

Kaz: What about Wednesday?

McCool: We have 4 days, Mon, Tue, Wed, and Thu
… at max

Sebastian: Proposed meetings: Monday 1-3pm CET@@@ (11:00-13:00 UTC); Tuesday 1-3pm CET (12:00-14:00 UTC); Wednesday 2-4pm CET (13:00-15:00 UTC); Thursday 12-2pm CET (11:00-13:00 UTC)

McCool: I will clean-up the logistics and send out emails
… for agenda topics please comment on PR
