<clown> agenda: this
<scribe> scribe: joanie
JS: Rich wanted me to write
Bogdan about adding more UIA interfaces.
... I sent the email yesterday. I've not yet heard back.
... But it's not been that long.
... I think the email went out on the public list.
<clown> https://lists.w3.org/Archives/Public/public-aria/2017Feb/0017.html
RS: You can poke Joanie or me if we need to follow up with him.
JS: The URL above is for the email I sent.
JS: I have a feeling this item
will come up every meeting.
... I just want a progress update.
RS: I did put some test cases in so Joanie can test and propose patches for WebKitGtk along with Safari.
JD: I was away and forgot to set up access to my Mac remotely. So I've not yet had time to work on that.
RS: Joseph, have you put in any Core AAM testable statements yet?
JS: I did add one for
aria-describedby, but not under Core AAM.
... Should I have put it there?
RS: Yes, because it's not new to ARIA; it's new to UIA.
JS: I know have to do some
AccName test cases too.
... While we're talking about this, I put in all the platforms.
Do I need to?
RS: Just for description? No, because it's specific to UIA.
<clown> https://www.w3.org/wiki/ARIA_1.1_Testable_Statements#aria-describedby
JS: The URL for the example is above.
RS: You only need to do that one for UIA.
JS: So I can remove the other platforms?
RS: Yes.
... How is Stefan doing with his test cases?
JS: I've only got one notification, so I don't know if he's done a bunch at once or has more work to do.
<clown> action-1732?
<trackbot> action-1732 -- Michael Cooper to Work on conformance section for mappings (note there is a section, but change id=conformance so respec picks up) -- due 2015-10-14 -- PENDINGREVIEW
<trackbot> http://www.w3.org/WAI/ARIA/track/actions/1732
JS: This is an old action
assigned to Michael Cooper.
... I pinged him the other day.
<clown> https://github.com/w3c/aria/pull/522
<clown> https://rawgit.com/w3c/aria/ACTION-1732/core-aam/core-aam.html#conformance
JS: He did it immediately and
provided the pull request at the above URL.
... He added the section at the URL above.
... It looks pretty boilerplate to me. So I'm ok with it.
<clown> https://rawgit.com/w3c/aria/ACTION-1732/core-aam/core-aam.html#features-deprecated-in-wai-aria
JS: He also added the
features-deprecated section (see above URL).
... That's fine.
... Anyone else want to weigh in?
RS: That's fine.
JS: The AccName spec needs the
same thing.
... I think I'll accept his changes, but ask him to provide
something similar for AccName.
<clown> issue-642?
<trackbot> issue-642 -- alt text computation should distinguish between nameFrom contents during root node calculation versus recursive calculation. -- open
<trackbot> http://www.w3.org/WAI/ARIA/track/issues/642
JS: This first one is something
James Craig raised in 2014.
... (Reads from issue content)
RS: To me, this is a close WONTFIX.
JS: Agreed.
JD: Well.... Being on the receiving end of the result, there are times I tend to agree this concatenation is a bad idea.
RS: This will be a big discussion
then.
... We can add it to the 1.2-list for now.
JS: I'll open a new issue in github.
https://github.com/w3c/aria/issues/523
<clown> issue-654?
<trackbot> issue-654 -- Add label and description changes to section "State and Property Change Events" -- open
<trackbot> http://www.w3.org/WAI/ARIA/track/issues/654
JS: I think we talked about issue-654 last week.
<clown> action-2130?
<trackbot> action-2130 -- Joanmarie Diggs to Determine if AX AXPI supports an event if the accessible description changes. -- due 2016-12-20 -- OPEN
<trackbot> http://www.w3.org/WAI/ARIA/track/actions/2130
JS: This is now part of the AccName AAM.
JD: I didn't update the comment.
JS: Right, so we need to keep this open until you do.
JD: Sorry!
<clown> issue-654?
<trackbot> issue-654 -- Add label and description changes to section "State and Property Change Events" -- open
<trackbot> http://www.w3.org/WAI/ARIA/track/issues/654
<clown> issue-696?
<trackbot> issue-696 -- Glossary definition of "hidden" is inadequate -- open
<trackbot> http://www.w3.org/WAI/ARIA/track/issues/696
JS: Rich, you raised issue-696.
RS: What's the current definition?
JS: And I don't think this is a
Core AAM issue. But I can get a link for you.
... The definitions are shared.
<richardschwerdtfeger> https://www.w3.org/TR/wai-aria-1.1/
<richardschwerdtfeger> https://www.w3.org/TR/wai-aria-1.1/#terms
<clown> https://www.w3.org/TR/wai-aria-1.1/#dfn-hidden
RS: I would just close this. I'm ok with the definition.
JS: Done.
<clown> issue-737
<trackbot> issue-737 -- Determine platform mappings for new "term" role introduced in ARIA 1.1 -- open
<trackbot> http://www.w3.org/WAI/ARIA/track/issues/737
JS: This issue might already be done.
<clown> https://rawgit.com/w3c/aria/master/core-aam/core-aam.html#role-map-term
JS: We have mappings for all of
them (see above URL).
... I will close issue-737
<clown> issue-738
<trackbot> issue-738 -- UIA mapping for heading incorrect -- open
<trackbot> http://www.w3.org/WAI/ARIA/track/issues/738
JS: Issue 738 might be done too.
<clown> https://rawgit.com/w3c/aria/master/core-aam/core-aam.html#role-map-heading
<clown> https://lists.w3.org/Archives/Public/public-aria/2016Dec/0039.html
JS: I sent an email to Bogdan
(see the above URL).
... No response from Bogdan, though Stefan wanted more
information.
... I will ping Bogdan.
<clown> issue-1013?
<trackbot> issue-1013 -- Is there a need for an aapi event for aria-errormessage -- open
<trackbot> http://www.w3.org/WAI/ARIA/track/issues/1013
JS: I raised issue-1013, but I'm
not sure if it's relevant any more.
... Because it's tied to aria-invalid, events will be generated
for every platform except UIA.
<clown> https://lists.w3.org/Archives/Public/public-aria/2016Feb/0419.html
JS: But there's an email from
James Teh (URL above).
... Anyway, what do people think?
JD: I think we already get spammed with text-changed and children-changed and ...
RS: And there's the live-region-related events.
JD: the subsequent IA2-list discussion led to the creation of new relations (right?)
JS: Yes, but not new
events.
... That said, the consensus seems to be we have plenty of
events.
... So I'm closing this issue.
<clown> issue-1024
<trackbot> issue-1024 -- Should status role be mapped to Status Bar? -- open
<trackbot> http://www.w3.org/WAI/ARIA/track/issues/1024
<clown> https://rawgit.com/w3c/aria/master/core-aam/core-aam.html#role-map-status
JD: I'm good with mapping it to
ROLE_STATUS_BAR on my platform.
... It's not *exactly* a status bar, but it behaves close(ish)
enough to one.
RS: And ATs can check the xml-roles object attribute.
JS: Ok, closing this one as WONTFIX
<clown> issue-1025
<trackbot> issue-1025 -- Drive mappings of the new enumerated type values for aria-haspopup -- open
<trackbot> http://www.w3.org/WAI/ARIA/track/issues/1025
JS: I think issue-1025 is
done.
... All actions are closed.
... Apple's done too.
RS: I think we're ok.
JS: Closing.
<clown> issue-1026
<trackbot> issue-1026 -- AAPI mappings for aria-errormessage -- open
<trackbot> http://www.w3.org/WAI/ARIA/track/issues/1026
JS: I think this one is nearly done. The only one that is open is AXAPI.
RS: So now we have test cases for
that, which Joanie had asked for.
... So she can do the implementation.
JS: Has this been moved to a
github issue?
... I'll find the github URL, add it to the tracker issue, and
then close the tracker action and issue.
... Is that OK with everyone?
(Crickets)
JS: That's what I'll do then.
<clown> issue-1038
<trackbot> issue-1038 -- Need mappings for role="feed", "figure", "term" for all AAPIs -- open
<trackbot> http://www.w3.org/WAI/ARIA/track/issues/1038
JS: I think issue-1038 is in the
same boat as the previous issue.
... All actions are closed.
... So I'll close this issue.
<clown> aria-1041
<clown> issue-1041
<trackbot> issue-1041 -- Need mappings of aria-colcount, aria-colindex, aria-colspan, aria-rowcount, aria-rowindex, and aria-rowspan for all AAPIs -- open
<trackbot> http://www.w3.org/WAI/ARIA/track/issues/1041
JS: Issue 1041 is done too.
<clown> issue-1042
<trackbot> issue-1042 -- Need mappings for aria-details for all AAPIs -- open
<trackbot> http://www.w3.org/WAI/ARIA/track/issues/1042
<clown> https://lists.w3.org/Archives/Public/public-aria/2016Aug/0016.html
JS: Jason asked a question (see
above URL).
... I answered him.
... The mappings should be there.
RS: Except for Mac.
JS: I guess we should leave this open since we're waiting on Mac.
RS: We have a github issue for it.
<clown> issue-673
<trackbot> issue-673 -- Need standard way to distinguish data tables from layout tables -- raised
<trackbot> http://www.w3.org/WAI/ARIA/track/issues/673
JS: This doesn't look like an easy close.
JD: This isn't ARIA, but the
issue described is a real issue.
... Different user agents do different things.
... If we want consistent exposure, then we probably need to
prescribe it.
JS: I will move this to github
(assuming there's not already a github issue).
... And file it against HTML-AAM.
JD: Sounds good to me as it's not ARIA.
