<janina> trackbot, start meeting
<trackbot> Date: 30 April 2015
<scribe> scribenick: LJWatson
<janina> chair: Charles
CMN: Think all outstanding CFCs have been successful.
JS: We have a bug against the
work statement, but the other two passed.
... Techniques for text alts has about a day to run in the HTML
WG.
... Expect a decision from the WG next week. The PF CFC is open
'till Monday.
CMN: Liam noted in conversation that an alt may need to be different based on the image's context.
SM: Nothing to report.
RS: Filed the scrolling into view
defect.
... It's a five minute editorial change.
... Just need to make sure the open defects are fixed and it's
a wrap.
<chaals> scribe: chaals
<LJWatson> CMN: JF and I need to work on the draft spec text.
<LJWatson> JF: We're at the same impasse as before, the two likely candidates have issues, and the third option has been shot down.
CMN: source doesn't have a "kind" attribute, just triggers off type, which is going to seem a bit odd. But think the key to this dicussion is outside the TF.
<LJWatson> JS: We have two requirements - timing and programmatic association.
<LJWatson> JF: Timing is where things get messy. Most transcripts do not have timestamps.
<LJWatson> JS: We don't need to require timing, just that it be supported.
<LJWatson> JF: We're getting push back from many people that <track> is timestamped.
<LJWatson> JS: Do we care if it's source or track?
<LJWatson> CMN: No
<LJWatson> JS: We should ask the media people to decide.
<LJWatson> CMN: We should clarify we don't care what the element is called. Then we need to get concensus on what we do call it.
<LJWatson> JF: Did this come up with the TAG?
<scribe> ACTION: chaals to talk to tag about transcript architecture [recorded in http://www.w3.org/2015/04/30-html-a11y-minutes.html#action01]
<trackbot> Created ACTION-319 - Talk to tag about transcript architecture [on Charles McCathie Nevile - due 2015-05-07].
<LJWatson> CMN: Would be good to ask them about the architecture, but not to "bike shed" the name.
<LJWatson> CMN: Possible meeting in Europe 9th/10th July. Just enough interest to make it worth asking others to come.
<LJWatson> CMN: PF and HTML will be meeting at TPAC, so some of us will be commited to one or the other. The TF may be able to meet though.
<LJWatson> CMN: We should try to have at least one full TF meeting during the year. Perhaps at TPAC? Will send out email straw poll.
<LJWatson> CMN: Observations from CSUN were that we could have had a bigger meeting there than any other we're likely to organise. Should think seriously now about a meeting at CSUN next year.
<Zakim> joanie, you wanted to ask about the European meeting
<LJWatson> JMD: ARIA also needs a F2F - any possibility of extending the venue for a third day?
<LJWatson> CMN: 9th/10th is a Thu/Fri, so possibly the day before.
<LJWatson> CMN: Take it offline and let's see what we can organise.
<Zakim> JF, you wanted to discuss a CSUN F2F
<LJWatson> JF: Last time we met at CSUN was 3/4 years ago, but it was productive. There were some logistical problems though - like finding meeting space at the venue.
<LJWatson> JF: Think it's a good idea though.
<LJWatson> +1 to meeting at CSUN 2016.
+1 to meeting in San Diego but not at the Hyatt…
<LJWatson> CS: We'd want to meet outside of the Manchester Grand Hyatt. Europe in July is "iffy" for me.
<Zakim> Judy, you wanted to comment on one possible magic solution for meeting-hosting at CSUN
<LJWatson> JB: Asking for hosting from organisations already at CSUN is how we've worked out WAI meetings at CSUN in recent years.
<LJWatson> CS: That could work, but food is also ridiculously expensive.
<LJWatson> JF: Would have to enquire, but Deque may be able to assist.
<LJWatson> +1 to TPAC (will be there anyway), and Europe is close enough to be feasible.
<LJWatson> CMN: Will confirm Zaragoza, or possibly London if it looks like a better option.
<LJWatson> CMN: We could ask Paul for a breakout room at TPAC.
<ShaneM> ShaneM expects to be at TPAC
<LJWatson> Will be at TPAC
<joanie> Joanie doesn't know yet, but probably can.
<LJWatson> CMN: Ok, so likely a small meeting in Europe, possible meeting at TPAC, and another at CSUN.
